Private property2005-08-24 Posted at 09:19:42 PMA new ruling by The Supreme Court will allow local governments to claim property for the benefit for private entities. In other words if the government decides that property could be better utilized by another private party they can take it from one person and give it to another under eminent domain. This goes against the everything we understood since the founding of the country. One of the main reasons for our growth as a nation is the right to own property. Third-world countries suffer economically because the government can and many times does take private property. People are discouraged from developing their property with the threat of government seizure. Investors are reluctant to invest in businesses the will be taken by the government. Without investment business suffers and of course the whole economy. No Newer Entries No Older Entries Page content is Copyright ©2005-2007 Wally McRae |
