COMPLEXION CREAM

Take 1oz oil of sweet almonds; 1/2dr each of white wax and spermaceti, with a little balm. Melt in a glazed jar and pour into a mortar. Stir until it becomes smooth and cold. Add gradually 1oz of rose or orange flower waer. Stir until well mixed and creamy. This makes the skin supple and smooth

COMPLEXION HINTS

Cucumbers cut in slices and soaked in rum are great complexion improvers. Or pare and cut small cucumbers and bring to the boil in water, then allow to cool. Strain and bottle for use.

Oatmeal made into a poultice, strained, and the liquid mixed with bay rum, is a great softener and whitener.

Boiling milk poured over violets is said to keep the skin white, soft and free from wrinkles.

FRECKLES

Use an ounce of fresh cream; 8oz milk; lemon-juice brandy; and an ounce of Eau de Cologne, sugar 1dr. Boil and skim

Another way is to apply 4 times daily a lotion made of 1/2 dr of muriate of ammonia, 2drs lavender water and 1/2 pint of distilled water.

To make a freckle paste, take a teacupful of sour milk; scrape into it a quantity of horse radish; let it stand for several hours; strain well, apply with a camel-hair brush 2 or 3 times daily.

Toni, I had a great deal of freckles on my face when I was a kid. An old aunt of mine would tell me - EVERY - time she saw me, that I should wash my face with a face-cloth full of 'pee' and my freckles would disappear... thank goodness I never listened to my elders - literally~!!! ;o)) I think your recipe is much safer, and probably smells much better! Good BLOG! I visit often, don't always have time for comments though. Take Care! John A. Gosselin (diamond-sharp.info)

Hey, Toni, these are cool. And if they don't do what they're supposed to, we can always eat them for lunch!~
