Great Moments

something different

I just spent about an hour reading some of the blogs to find inspration. It was a little depressing really. Most of what I saw  was either business leads or bad news. I could spend this time recounting all the problems my wife have had lately or do something different. I chose something different. At another time I will no doubt get on my soapbox but for now I'm going to take lemons and make lemonade.

Back in Feb. I received a letter from my youngest son who was on his second tour of duty in Iraq. He said he had seen alot of "stuff" over there and decided he needed to get ahold of me. In the previous September he and his wife, Nikki, had brought into this world the most gorgeous grandbaby ever born. Hooray! What a mracle but not just the birth the letter as well. I  hadn't  seen or heard from my son in 17 years.

His mom and I were divorced and he had went to live with her. There were some bad feelings and dispite several attempts I wasn't  able to stay in touch. My wife and I had become used to only thinking about him on holidays and birthdays or when something triggered a memory.

A week after he came home they all came from Ohio to Arkansas for a visit. It was one of those landmark moments we have in life. At 59 I have had many of my own; finding out how smart my parents became between when I was 17 and when I turned 21, meeting and marrying my wonderful wife Carol, having our first child, meeting the Lord of my life(Jesus).

Now I must warn everyone that at some later date I will probably get on my own soapbox or rehearse some of my own problems for you to judge but not this time. This time I chose to do something different. Hopefully this will let you know that when you get a few lemons, rejoice, make lemonade and thank God for the sugar he sends.

Have a good day and hang in there.  Paul
