Are The Ten Commandments Still Standing Today?

Exodus 20:1-17

1 And God spoke all these words, saying,

2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 "You shall have no other gods before me.

4 "You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;

5 you shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,

6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

8 "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work;

10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your manservant, or your maidservant, or your cattle, or the sojourner who is within your gates;

11 for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.

12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

13 "You shall not kill.

14 "You shall not commit adultery.

15 "You shall not steal.

16 "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is your neighbor's."

My Thoughts :

You might be wondering do the Comandments Of the Lord exsist today? Some might say no that the Commandments have been done away with when Jesus was nailed to the Cross.

The question that I want to leave with you is this: How can stone be nailed to wood? Remember The Ten Comandments were written by the Father Himself.

Matthew 5:18-19 says 18 Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus the Son Of God Plainly States Here That He Did not Come to Destroy the Law. Which is the Ten Commandements, He only Came to fullfill it. Jesus is so serious about this that he says that Heaven, and Earth Will Pass away before His Law.

In The Days to Come We Will be looking deeper into this Law, that Jesus is Reffering to, and how it affects our every day living.

Hey Keisha, you've got my attention, I've been asking myself why so many dismiss the Commandments and even find them offensive enough to not want to be exposed to them! I'm not sure the younger people in America are even aware of the fact that our U.S.Constitution was derived directly from The Ten Commandments by our Christian forefathers. (I'm really, really interested to know how they teach this in public schools since references to our Creator has been made illegal)! Do they even teach the Constitution or is it worse than even I think?

Keisha, what's that old saying - everyone learns everything important in kindergarden. Being polite, cleaning up after yourself, making friends, and many other things we need in life. But most importantly, we learn that the 10 Commandments where just that and there was a reason they weren't called the 10 SUGGESTIONS! Today, many people need to take a refersher course in Kindergarden! From being polite to learning to eat with the mouth shut to memorizing and living the 10 Commandments! Thanks for the opportunity to remind everyone. Great way to start your blog! John A. Gosselin

Yes, they learn about the Constitution and Bill of Rights...but they also learn about separation of "church and state". I believe that to be one of the most misunderstood and misconstrued statements in modern times. That was not what our forefathers intended and any person (except lawyers & judges - they forgot that when they took the bar exam) knows this country was founded for freedom from religious persecution and VERY faith-based. So how can we separate church and state? How can we say the 10 Commandments cannot be displayed in a public building in this country? This country was founded as "One Nation Under God" So how can be take God and religion out of our nation?

I love this blog site. I am so blessed and tearful (happy tears) to realize that people do still love God! Everywhere I turn, secularists are trying to keep God quiet.
I hope I don't start spending alot of time here and not getting my work done. No, I'll be a good steward of my time, so reading these Blessed Blogs will still reap me blessings. Sorry just rambling it's late

Hi Keisha,
Although I do not consider myself to be religious I do believe in the commandments. They, in my opinion are the backbone and the strength that we weak and sometimes misguided human beings need to lead a life of goodness. They are the rules that we need to allow us to follow a true and honest way of life. Without those rules we only have chaos and disorder, as we wander and stumble around aimlessly lost. We all need the commandments to guide us in our daily lives. Thanks for allowing me these few words. God bless, and keep you.

Keep it coming Keisha, The Ten Commandments are culminated in Jesus reply in Matt22:37 - 40

Also; John 14:23 Jesus replied,"If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him."

I believe that everything we do in this life affects someone somehow, so why not have a positive affect on people. I think it is a cop out when people say, I can do whatever I want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. I don't think those people bother to think about who they may be hurting. From what I've learned whatever we do whether it is positive or negative it affects someone somewhere.
My private peeve is that it is usually the children who are hurt.
I pray that you and your family are healthy. God Bless
