Computers are Like Men...
In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on.
They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they are the problem.
They have a lot of data but are still clueless.
As soon as you commit to one, you realize that, if you had waited a little longer you could have had a better model.
They hear what you say, but not what you mean.

Computers are Like Women...
No one but the Creator understands their internal logic.
The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else.
Even your smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for later retrieval.
As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.
You do the same thing for years, and suddenly it's wrong.

There are many ironic things in this world. A businessperson who has everything in the world may not be happy. On the contrary, a mother who does not own anything, does not have any business, and just depends on her husband’s income might be happy.

A person who is able to get a management position might still be unhappy and he may apply again for a higher position. However, a secretary whose pay is just enough for her family’s cost of living might be happy and love her job.

As a human, everyone has a choice. One of the choices that is very important is to choose is being happy. Yes, it is a choice!

Research studies have proven that attaining awareness would lead to happiness. Being aware of the things that you like, and knowing your priorities and goals, are factors that can make you happy. A person who does not know what he wants in life may not be very happy.

Here are some tips on finding happiness:

1. Appreciate Blessings. Being aware of the importance of things within an individual’s life plays an important part in becoming happy. Think of 10 things each day you can be grateful for.

2. Do some repainting at home. Shades of orange and yellow brings an aura of happiness as compared to dark shades of blue. Sometimes brightening up the area you live or work in can brighten up your outlook on life.

3. Be appreciative. Appreciating everything that is in life can bring contentment. Attaining contentment is happiness.

4. Write a self-improvement list. Make sure that the things that are on the list will give satisfaction within. Don't be too hard on yourself. Start with the simple things. Don't tackle your most difficult task first or you will get discouraged.

5. Be positive. Remember that good habits attract good things. Surround yourself with positive people!

6. Sometimes listing the things that trigger a bad mood is a good hidea. This way, you are aware of things that might come that can trigger a bad mood and take steps to prevent it.

7. Find someone to talk to. A trusted friend can help you release your bad feelings by sharing those bad feelings with him.

8. Do not worry about outcomes. Stressing yourself in doing something that is not there usually drives the feeling of being anxious and depress.

9. Be motivated. Motivating yourself to think positively will result to being happy.

10. Be with friends. Being with friends will help in reducing your stress and provides interaction with others.

11. Write in a journal. This good therapy could release negative moods. It can also relief stress.

12. Go out. Taking your family to the beach or some type of outing every weekend will help in getting the right mood and having a good start in life.

A person who knows how to appreciate the things that surround him finds greater meaning and purpose in life, which leads to true happiness.

Pleasurable things need not to be expensive. Sometimes, the more expensive things are, the more they lose their value to bring happiness. Material things usually have limited contribution to a person’s happiness.

Would you go to the grocery store, come home and put the groceries away, sit down and wait for your supper to make itself? Of course not.

Would you get out the dust mop, the broom or the vacuum cleaner and expect the house to clean itself? Of course you wouldn’t.

Then why do you expect that if you purchase the latest product being promoted, download it to your computer and/or set it up as a webpage, and then just sit back, that the money will start rolling in?

In order to achieve any of our goals, unless our goal is to be a lazy couch potato, it is important to work at them. Actually, even a lazy couch potato has to work at his goal. He has to restrict himself to not walking to the fridge too often, but having all his snacks surrounding him. He has to make sure the battery is in the remote, otherwise he might have to actually get up to change the channel. He has to make sure his snacks are in the house and that he doesn’t have to run out to the store to get them.

However if your goals are more substantial, like making enough money to be able to quit your day job, you are going to have to start off by working at least as hard as you do at that job, and maybe even harder. If you want to make enough money to be able to buy a new house and travel, you will definitely have to work harder, devote more time to your online marketing and be willing to give up some of that couch potato time.

It’s very easy to get sucked in to watching a tv program and before you know it two or three hours of productive internet marketing time have flown by and you are further away from your goal. Sit down and figure out your hourly worth and how much money you have just spent/wasted.

It’s important to define your goal if you want to achieve it. Study after study has proven that the people who take the time to physically write down their goals are the ones who actually achieve them.

What is it you want to achieve? Do you just want some part-time income? Do you want to be able to work part-time at a regular day job? Do you want to completely replace your current income? Do you want to not only replace your current income, but double it?

Take some time to write down the exact amount of money you want to earn in a year, then divide it by 12 to see how much you need to earn each month, then divide that by 4 to see how much you need to earn in a week. Finally, divide that by the number of days you are willing to commit to your online business to see how much you need to earn in a day.

Take a good long look at what you currently have gathering digital dust on your hard drive and see if there is anything that will earn you that kind of money. Start using some of the traffic exchanges to advertise your product. Write some interesting articles to draw people to your site. Make sure that you are knowledgeable about your product so that you can explain it to others and/or answer any questions about it.

Once you start getting people responding to your advertising, you need to keep those people by providing them with additional information in the way of newsletters or updates. Internet marketing is all about building relationships. It is important to become someone who can be trusted, someone who provides a quality product to their customers as that is what keeps them coming back.

After you achieve success with your first product and things are going well, it is time to start looking for product number two.

Throughout the history of human civilization, people have been expressing their confidence and strength, not only by force, but also by the noble art of public speaking. Whether giving a toast at a wedding or delivering a speech to a large assembly, most people make a big deal about public speaking and try to avoid it as much as possible. But public speaking does not need to create such fears.

Although it may appear challenging, public speaking can be accomplished by following a few simple guidelines.

Before Making The Speech: Preparation

Like any other endeavor, public speaking requires careful preparation to be successful. Perhaps you have seen one of the “inspired” spontaneous speeches in movies. The reality is that those scenes are carefully rehearsed and such scenes rarely happen in real life. In order to have at least a decent speech, one must plan well. Even the world’s most famous leaders spend time to prepare for public addresses, and most even have teams to work on those plans. However, even if one does not have a speech preparation committee one can prepare for public speaking.

First, it is important to know what the occasion the speech is for. The Gettysburg address would definitely not be appropriate for a wedding, since a speech has to fit the event and the people who will be there.

Second, one should give careful consideration to the type of audience who will witness the speech. For instance, an assembly of academics would probably not take a perky speaker seriously; therefore one should choose a suitable public speaking style based on the audience.

Third, one should know what the expectations are for the speech. A farmer’s association would usually not be interested on a speech about the intricacies of beadwork. It is important to carefully consider the subject matter to be tackled as well as the time frame available before beginning to prepare the speech.

Making The Speech: Writing

When writing for public speaking, one should carefully organize the contents of the speech. It is important to begin with a very strong introduction in order to grab the audience’s attention. It is necessary to catch the audience’s attention early to prevent them from becoming bored.

Next, the body should be purposeful. You should try to cover only 2 or 3 major points. Be prepared with some personal stories to cover the points you are making and perhaps a joke or two to keep the audience’s attention when boredom arises.

Lastly, one should make a conclusion that sticks to the mind. No matter how stirring a speech is, it is useless if the people forget it the instant they leave the gathering. Conclusions should give a concise but memorable recap of the body and include a call to action of some sort.

Again, dazzling spontaneous speeches rarely happen in real life. Most good speeches have been written long before their delivery. While most noted public figures have speech-writing committees, one can make a good speech even without the help of a team of ghostwriters.

The Actual Public Speaking: Delivery

This is the part most people are afraid of; but when proper planning and writing is done well, the delivery should follow easily.

Before the actual time comes, one must decide whether to speak from memory or to use notes. Beginners often benefit from a script or a guide, however when one becomes more comfortable speaking in public, one can start relying from memory.

Reading directly from a script can be quite boring for the audience; thus, it is important to keep constant contact with them by making eye contact with all parts of the room. This requires practicing the speech so that at least some of it can be memorized, and you can effectively use pauses to glance at the audience.

Speaking from memory is quite impressive, but for a beginner it can be difficult to avoid missing some parts of the speech. Speaking with notes can be a good compromise so long as one is able to expound on the points well. Sometimes having a simple cue card with the main points is all a speaker needs. The choice of how to deliver the speech depends entirely on the speaker; thus, it is important for one to weigh the options carefully.

Learning More About Public Speaking

There are several resources to help you do well in public speaking. Several books and articles about the topic have been published. Many companies offer public speaking training, and such services provide in-depth courses that could help one speak well in public. You can join a local Toastmasters Club and learn public speaking techniques with other like-minded people. There are clubs all around the world. You will have the opportunity to learn and practice for a very small cost. You can also find articles and courses on the internet.

Public speaking is challenging, but can be a very worthwhile skill. With the guide provided above, one should no longer be afraid to speak in public.
