Merry Christmas

2007-12-20 Posted at 10:52:24 PM

It's all to easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season.  May this poem remind you of what is important!.

The Poem

I knelt to pray but not for long,

I had too much to do.

I had to hurry and get to work

For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,

And jumped up off my knees.

My Christian duty was now done

My soul could rest at ease.....

All day long I had no time

To spread a word of cheer

No time to speak of Christ to friends,

They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do,

That was my constant cry,

No time to give to souls in need

But at last the time, the time to die.

I went before the Lord,

I came, I stood with downcast eyes.

For in his hands God! held a book;

It was the book of life.

God looked into his book and said

"Your name I cannot find

I once was going to write it down...

But never found the time"

May you find that your name is on the list!  Merry Christmas and a blessed 2008.

Peace on Earth...Good Will To All

If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand – Mark 3: 25

(Free Christmas Gift for You, see the end)

Abraham Lincoln used these words in 1858 about the United States, divided over slavery.  They are as relevant today.  We are surrounded by division.  The world is divided by religious and ethnic conflicts; nations are divided by bickering political parties; churches are divided by social issues; families are divided by bitterness and resentment.  We do well to remember division leads to weakness and failure.  Where then is there hope in a world of division?

There is hope in this:  What unites us is far greater than what divides us.  We all love, we all hope, we all hurt.  We all dream and struggle.  We have all experienced grief and joy.

As family members we are united by love; as a church we are united by faith; as nations we are united by patriotism; as a world we are united by our humanity – a bond that extends beyond race, religion or nationality.

I have always thought of the various peoples of the world as a flower garden, each race or culture representing a different type of flower, all coming together to make the most beautiful garden in the world.  Some flowers prefer arid soil, some wet soil, some prefer heat, some shade, some grow tall, some are shorter.  Each flower grows as it is supposed to grow.  A sunflower does not pretend to be a rose or vice versa.  Each flower brings its own unique colour and scent to the garden and the result is a wonderful blend which appeals to the senses.

I have created a special Christmas gift for you.  You can get it by going to my webpage www.franwatson.ca.  There is nothing to buy, no ezine to sign up for (unless you want to).  You can simply collect it from the top of the page - Christmas Memories 2007.  The book is a tribute to old fashioned Christmases with lots of Victorian pics and some make-at-home gift ideas for your friends and family.  I hope you enjoy both the ebook and the Christmas season.  (NOTE:  If you tried this before and it didn't work, please try again.  I fixed it.)

Merry Christmas
