wid·get [ wíjjit ] (plural wid·gets)

noun

Definition:

1. unnamed device: a little device or mechanism, especially one whose name is unknown or forgotten ( humorous )

2. object: a hypothetical manufactured object, considered to represent the typical product of a manufacturer

[Early 20th century. Origin ?]

When I was looking for a name for my new Softshop, I thought back to the above definition A hypothetical product used to illustrate a business concept. and how nicely it fit with the name Watson - therefore Watson's Widgets was born.  When I checked later on the web, I discovered that there are no fewer than 59,000,000 references to widgets and I discovered something else,

"under X Windows, "widgets" is the collective name for buttons, sliders, menu bars, title bars, and all the other paraphernalia that windows can have or contain - awidget set is a collection of all the necessary widgets of a particular style - think "Toolbox".."

.I still think that the word "widgets" fits well with the Softshop focus as there are many newly developed software programs available.  If you haven't been to a Softshop, check out mine now....you may be amazed at what is available.
