Signs of A Stroke

2006-08-22 Posted at 11:38:07 PM

Had seen this before, but not this clearly and not with the tip about sticking out the tongue . Good to remember. Read all the way to bottom.

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters...

 STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word, I agreed. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously . please read:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up,

Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the afternoon. Ingrid's husband called later saying that his wife had been taken to the hospital and passed away. She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had  they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some stroke victims don't die, they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within three hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke .. . . totally.

He said the trick washaving a stroke recognized, diagnosed and then getting the patient medically cared for within three hours, which is tough.

 RECOGNIZING A STROKE:

Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps.  Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.  Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.  Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK, to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE. (Coherently) (i.e. . . It is sunny out today)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue . if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.

If he or she has trouble with any one of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this message sends it to ten people, you can bet at least one life will be saved.

Let's save lives

A Stitch In Time

2006-08-02 Posted at 11:28:15 PM

A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE and how that relates to me, Mike Litman, Glenn Dietzel and John DiLemme.

I’m sure you’ve probably heard someone say, “A stitch in time saves nine”, but did you ever really think about it?  In the context of fixing something that is ripped it means getting out the needle and thread and fixing the tear before it becomes too large to be fixed.  It doesn’t mean letting it sit in the sewing basket until the person has grown out of it.  It means FOCUS and do it now!

I live in the country and have 2 ½ acres of land to look after.  As a rule I spend most of my time at work or in the house and so I don’t pay a lot of attention to all of my yard.  I spend the 3 ½ - 4 hours it takes to cut my grass, but some of the trimming gets put off and that’s why I now have a full-grown tree growing out of the base of my barn instead of a young sapling that I could easily trim.  It’s also why the raspberry bushes have taken over in a few places.

This saying also relates to organization.  If I would put things away as I deal with them and not leave them on my kitchen table or the coffee table or the counter top or the bedroom floor, then cleaning up wouldn’t be such a daunting task and I wouldn’t continue to put it off for weeks on end.  (I find there is ALWAYS something I’d rather do than clean my house!)  It really doesn’t take a lot of time once you get started, but it’s much harder to actually get started when all you see is mess.  (What I see is books and more books and more books that have no place to live.)

“Now that’s great”, I hear you saying.  “I’ve learned that you neglect your house and your yard, but what the heck does that have to do with Mike Litman, Glenn Dietzel and John DiLemme?

Well, I was just about to get to that.

About 2 years ago I heard about Mike Litman and I listed to some of his amazing radio broadcasts.  He got in touch with me and talked to me about a program he had that would teach me how to achieve my goals if I was ready.  But I thought I could do it myself.

He got in touch with me again some time later and told me about Glenn Dietzel of Awaken The Author Within.  He hooked me up in early 2005 and I talked to Glenn about writing my own ebook.  He gave me some good ideas and we talked about me working with him if I was ready. Glenn was just starting out and was looking for people to mentor.  His rates weren’t too expensive, but I thought “I can do it on my own.”

I got a copy of Mike’s CD – Unleash the Greatness in YOU  (get your copy here and I was excited.  I could do it…….but I didn’t.

Recently I listened to a lecture by John DiLemme and a question that stood out for me was, “Are you successful at the level you want to be at?”  He said: “ENOUGH” – enough self-doubt, enough procrastination – “Today is the day.”

Then this past week I got Glenn’s CD and listened to it.  One thing he said really struck me.  He said it is important to have a mentor.  Someone who is ahead of you, someone who will keep you accountable!

BANG!  Right between the eyes.  Exactly what was missing!  I allowed procrastination to creep in and there was no one to keep me accountable.  No one to ask, “So, how many chapters of your ebook have you written today?”  “What ideas do you have for your ebook and what have you done about them?”

I realized that if I had taken the “stitch in time” by working with Glenn 2 years ago, I would have “saved time” (and money) because I wouldn’t have been spending all my money looking at this option and that option and trying to figure out what I would write about.

I would have had that coach, that mentor to force me to FOCUS, to accomplish my task.

As Glenn says, “You don’t need more information.  In fact, information is your enemy.  What you need is the right action steps…executed properly…to save you time, energy and money.”

I am encouraged tonight as I read Sara Ban Brethnach’s words:  “Perhaps this August you might like to commence a personal harmonic convergence through rediscovering, recovery, and celebrating your creativity, the sacred conduit to access your authentic self.  It’s never too late to reclaim your individual gifts, resuscitate a dream, create an authentic life.”

So, the time has come to procrastinate no longer.  Tonight I have faxed my reply to Glenn for my 30 minute “Dream Into Action” audit.  I want him to teach me how to overcome the obstacles that have been holding me back for too long and to show me how to build a business doing what I want to do.

Sara also said, “When we follow our authentic path with love, embracing our creative impulses, we live in truth…”

How about you?  Are you ready?  Do you want to join me in this adventure?  Send me an email and let me know.  When I talk to Glenn I’ll let him know about you.  Or you can contact Glenn directly and get your own copy of his CD – The Person You Must Become.

Let’s go!!!
