Predictions2006-01-31 Posted at 04:45:06 PMThis week I was researching information for my Toastmasters meeting - theme Groundhog Day - as I was the Toastmaster for my Monday night club and doing the Word of the week for the Tuesday night club. I decided to look up the word Predictions, since that is what the groundhogs are famous for doing. Each week we choose a word to help us improve our vocabulary. The word may be something that is somewhat familiar or it may be a new word. We learn where the word comes from - its etymology, and how it should be used and then we try to use it as many times as possible during the evening meeting. A prediction is a statement or claim that a particular event will occur in the future. This particularly struck my fancy as I thought more about it today while surfing and saw all the various "predictions" made on the intenet. "Buy my product/plan and you will be able to retire in 30 days." "You will be able to quit your job and make millions of dollars." "You will never have to work again if you follow my 3 steps to wealth (or 5 steps or 7 steps, or whatever the number may be this time.)" These particular predictions might have as much chance of coming true as the groundhogs predictions, or maybe even less since even the groundhogs are shown to be 37% accurate. The reality of network marketing is that unless you know what you want, know what you are doing, and are prepared to work at it, you won't be successful. Most of the information I have read predicts that only 5% of those of us who are doing internet marketing will reach a point where we will be making thousands of dollars and retiring in luxury. It is predicted that the rest of us will give up in frustration after having made nothing at all. If you want to be more successful, find a mentor that you can work with who will show you the ropes, pick a product or niche that people are interested in, start slowly and don't spend more than you can afford to lose. Don't be taken in by all the offers that are floating around. If you want a good solid place to start with some good solid information, I recommend Rob Gehring's 10Khits4u program and/or Joel Terrien's kiosk. I predict that you will be on the road to success if you follow the training provided by these gentlemen. There are some others that I can direct you to, but start here.
