Check Your Credit Balance

A Credit Check on Your Balance
by Catherine Pulsifer

When we go to the bank for a loan they look at our debt ratio by calculating how much we spend on housing, how much we spend using credit cards, etc. Depending on the percentages (and of course, by our credit rating) they agree or don't agree to lend us the money we requested.

If you were to take one week and calculate your percentage for:
- Time spent at work;
- Time spent with your family and friends;
- Time spent improving yourself (whether by taking a course or reading a book, etc.);
- Time spent relaxing;
- Time spent sleeping;

what would your ratio be? Would you say you had a balanced life?

To keep our credit in good standing, we need to ensure we keep an eye on the percentages of where our money is being allocated. If we don't do this, we could end up with not being able to borrow money. The same principle applies to our time. Are we allocating our time in the right percentages? At times, it is difficult to keep a proper balance in our lives. But, over time, an improper balance will lead to problems such as:
- too much time at work leads to burn out;
- too much time with family and friends can cause anxiety with your work;
- too much time improving yourself will leave little time to apply what you have learned;
- too much time relaxing can lead to issues with your work; and,
- too much time sleeping can cause all kinds of problems!

I could flip everyone one of these points and comment instead on "not enough time". But, I think you understand what I am driving at. It is balance; we need it. The sad part is that some people pay more attention to their credit than they do to their own balance in life!

Stop and assess your ratio.
Do you have a life balance?

This is definitely something to think about as we head towards the weekend and really think about what we are saying when we say, "I'd like to do that, but I just can't find the time."  You will never FIND the time, you have to MAKE the time - to take care of yourself, to be balanced.

Catherine published one of my poems (Risk) and I really enjoy her site.  I encourage you to take a look at it.

5 STEPS TO ACHIEVE ANY GOAL YOU WILL EVER WANT

2005-09-15 Posted at 10:28:50 PM

I found this the other day while cleaning. The paper is old and yellowed, but the message is strong and clear. The credit on it goes to Foster Hibbard.

FIVE STEPS TO ACHIEVE ANY GOAL YOU WILL EVER WANT

The key is to USE IT

Write out your goals on paper -- power begins when down on paper. Never let another day go by in the areas of love, health, career, material gain, etc., etc., etc. Write them out and invisible seeds take root and turn themselves into being.

1) VISUALIZATION:

Take five minutes per day and picture what it is you want - in detail! Create an image of what you want and feel like you already have it. For example, if you want a car, picture the make, colour, etc., and that is what you will get. You get what you think.

2) AFFIRMATION:

Afffirm that you already have it. For example, I am now dirving..... I am marrying..., I am working ... Picture what you want and don't settle for less. Place pictures if necessary, on the fridge, mirror, dresser, etc., and repeat, I am .... NOW, NOW, NOW, NOW. Get in the habit of repeating these affirmations every chance you get. In the shower, driving the car, bicycle, bus, etc., cooking dinner, doing the dishes, etc., REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT.

3) DISPLACEMENT:

Displace any negatives. Your EGO will try to keep you from getting what you want. If you have a negative thought, quickly replace it with one of your affirmations.

4) ACTION:

Every day do something toward the way of your goal(s). Even if it's no other than reading over your goal list. No thought is ever lost. Thinking about your goals magnetize them. Be enthusiastic and apply it to anything and everything you want in life. Enthusiasm gives you more energy. Feel your goals and your intelligence senses what you want and it responds.

5) GRATITUDE:

Always give thanks as if you already have it NOW. This plants the seed. Your thought is the seed. The goal is the fruition.
