Something to Remember

2005-07-22 Posted at 04:44:27 PM

I just received my latest Guideposts magazine (August 2005) this afternoon and as I was waiting for my email to download I started browsing through it, when I came across these quotes which I felt were important for all of us who are trying to make it online!!

The first was from Jonathan Winters - "If your ship doesn't come in, swim out to it!"  How many of us sign up for something and then sit back, waiting for that ship to come in.  As Tony Tezak says, you have to keep working, not waiting, if you want things to happen for you.

The second one was by poet Maya Angelou - she said, "One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential."  It takes courage to step out into a new venture, to put your past behind you and move forward.  Here's to all those who have taken that step!  You are already a success!!

Have a wonderful weekend

Pageant is Over

2005-07-21 Posted at 08:32:00 AM

Sooooooo tired this morning.   Another Pageant is Over.  Miss Renfrew 2005 has been crowned and all the work the committee put into the pageant over the past year has paid off.  Now we find out if we made money or lost money.  Ticket sales were down but sponsors were up......  At least all the girls were happy with their prize packages and the winners.  It will be a good group of girls to work with over the next year.

Part of me is sad that I won't be working with them as I have decided that this is/was my final year with the Pageant Committee.  I joined 5 years ago because my daughter was one of the coordinators.  She left last year and I stayed on, but this year I am moving on to other things.  There were new committee members added this year and so there is a strong team to move on with. I will miss all the year round activities and the supervising of the girls, but I am sure I will find other things to fill my life!!! (ask anyone who knows me....LOL)

Finally Paying Off

2005-07-19 Posted at 10:40:50 PM

Yippee.......yesterday I received a payment for my diet book and today I received an affiliate payment in the mail. It's been a while coming, but it is nice to see that it is finally paying off.

I also received commission for my adsense ads...more than I had received in the past 6 months..  All because I spent some time and did a little reconfiguration of the ads.

I began investigating adsense after reading an article  - the facts about adsense - by this man - William Charlwood (FactsAboutAdSense.com )  and that was even before I ordered any other information from him.  I can harlay wait to see what else he can tell me.

I also started to make some money with SFI and a couple of others.  Not that I can retire just yet, but a few more dollars and I can start taking one day off a week to devote to my online business.

For those of you just starting out - keep the faith.  For those of you who are making it - thanks for sharing what worked for you.

Follow Me

2005-07-19 Posted at 02:51:01 PM

I just realized how easy it is to let important things slip through the cracks by being too busy and not paying enough attention to instructions.  I have been blogging here since it opened, and I am a member of all of Doug's groups and so you would think that I would realize that there is a FollowMe link directory here too, but..............  *shaking my head*

I am sure that Tony Tezak and Rob Gehrig would both tell me - it's important to have a system and to follow it to use it effectively.  I can see them both shaking their heads at me.

I promise I will do better.  I will get all of my links linked!!!  I did, however, get my webpages updated with the new format my son created for me and the Pageant will soon be over so I will be able to take my html training with Aaron (which I am looking forward to).  I will also be able to catch up on missed conferences.

Take my advice, don't do what I have done.  Check carefully that you have followed all the steps correctly to improve your chances of being successful on the net!!

5 months til Christmas

2005-07-16 Posted at 11:32:59 PM

I was just talking to someone the other day about how quickly time flies and how it seems to go faster and faster as we get older and it dawned on me that it is only 5 months til Christmas and if I want to give homemade gifts this year I'd better get a move on.  (This of course from the person who is still working on the sweater that was supposed to be my daughter's birthday present last June....LOL  It will be done by the time she arrives from Taiwan in 2 weeks.......or at least by the time she leaves on August 14th....*grin*)

Each year I have so many plans for Christmas presents - things I would like to do.  Iget all the craft books showing all the wonderful jams and cookies and home made gifts that one can make and I get all excited about what I will do........and then Christmas arrives and I still don't get them done.

As a matter of fact, I do believe that I still have the chocolate mixture in my fridge from the truffles I was going to make last Christmas - I did make some, but didn't make all the ones I was going to.

Each year I think it will be different, but............  Have any of you had the same problem???  Did you find a way to get things done???  Please, if you did, let me know!!!

Fran

P.S.  My son recently updated my webpages for me - check them out and let me know what you think   www.franwatson.ca

Home Safe and Sound

2005-07-10 Posted at 09:39:33 PM

Just back from the UK, and thankful to be safe.  I was in London and riding on the tube 2 days before the bombs!!!  Thank goodness we decided to spend the final 3 days out of London in Salisbury.  What a great place to visit.  I am very tired right now and heading off to bed, but I will put up a little bit about our adventures later this week.

Time for some zzzzzzzzzz's

Fran
