Happy Happy Happy Me

2005-06-16 Posted at 10:59:36 PM

Whooo hoooo!!  My son just sent me new web pages, now all I have to do is get them uploaded to replace my old ones........He did a fabulous job!!!  I love them......  Soon you will be able to check out my new look at www.franwatson.ca   I should have everything in place this weekend.

It is so nice to have talented children!!!  I am so lucky with my children.  They are all wonderful, talented, intelligent, caring, good looking children (of course, they all take after their mother....LOL).

Really, though, they are.  My oldest son is a talented song writer, artist, parent, computer geek (former bbs now internet security - started programming on a Vic 20 & Commodore 64 when he was 8), and really great guy.  I was going to say "kid", but since he turns 33 (oh, no...that's not possible) in a few more weeks, I guess I can't.  His daughter, my granddaughter, is now 13.  He has his own webspace (www.thecyberwarlock.com) as does my youngest son.

My oldest daughter is living in Taiwan, teaching and going to school.  She has completed university, worked for a major business, and then moved to try something new.  She will be turning 31 next week and will be home for 3 weeks at the end of July.  She has been working with young children and when she was in grade school she wrote a story for kindergarten children and a friend of hers did the artwork.  She has also been doing some modelling and commercials.

My second daughter will be 27 (I really don't see how this is possible that they are this old, since I am barely 39 myself.... *grin*) in July and her son will be 8 in September.  She and her husband live close by, so I can help with child care on occasion.  She surprised me after she left school by her organizational skills as she worked on a presentation for a local pageant and by her artistic skills as she does her scrapbooking.  (It wasn't evident in her school work....she said it was because she wasn't interested in school...LOL).  She did some modelling for a while when she was younger.

My youngest son is completing his college and is working for the summer, and boy is he working!!  Welcome to reality!  He will be doing night shifts for the next couple of weeks, with a little time off to play for the weekend at a local restaurant/bar.  He too is a singer and songwriter and his CD Release party was in March, a horrendous icy night, but my oldest son drove up from Toronto to be there - that's the kind of guy he is!!  I had the opportunity to have one of my dreams come true as both my boys sang a song together on stage.  I would like to see it again as I didn't get a chance to record it on film.

I am one of the luckiest moms in the world.  I couldn't have better kids!!!  I don't regret for one minute marrying my ex, because without him I wouldn't have them!

Eenie, Meenie, Minie Moe

2005-06-13 Posted at 11:01:11 PM

Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Moe

Catch a surfer by the toe

If he hollers let him go

If not....sell him something!!

Practically every email I get these days wants me to buy this product or buy that product, either one is supposed to make me a multi-millionaire almost over night, or at least bring thousands and thousands of dollars to my inbox....I keep looking, but I haven't seen those thousands roll in yet...have you???  If there is something really legitimate that can make me money overnight, I'd sure like to know about it before I go on my trip to London.  I'd love to have some actual cash to spend.

I though about setting up a webpage that said, "Help me go to London, Please"  "Please deposit $1.00 into my paypal account ."  If I thought anyone would read it and actually do it, I might consider it.

I do have webpages and I am making a little something, but that's all it is.... a little something...unfortunately, that's all most of us make on the web.  I am going for the gold, I have signed up with 10khits4uSOLUTIONS and I am going to take the html programming course in order to learn how to set up my webpages better and I am writing articles and submitting them (a good way to get your name out there, so I'm told) but I don't have a product to sell except for my diet book and. although I think it's a darn good product, sales are not booming.  SFI, kiosk and Push Button Health are the 3 that are bringing me in something at the moment, although once I get into SOLUTIONS, I expect to make some $$ there too.

So I'm surfing, and I'm writing, and I'm buying the books, and reading what the "gurus" say, so.......where's the money????  Right now it takes me at least an hour every day to read all the emails (well, to scan and sort and save the emails) that I get from various ezine lists and various marketers.  I work full time and do two nights of Toastmasters, 2 nights during the month for the Computer Club, and then a few nights for the Miss Renfrew Pageant, so it doesn't leave too much time for really dedicating myself to the money making aspect.  I keep thinking about taking 1 day off per week without pay, but that's a scary thing..........maybe I really need to challenge myself to do this - to make enough money online to cover the costs of taking that day off, and then I could take another day off and make more money.

FOCUS - Fear Overcome Causes Us Success

FOCUS on the Goal - write it down, share it with others, just do it!!!!

SUCCESS

2005-06-10 Posted at 06:56:58 AM

S U C C E S S that's the way you spell SUCCESS - .... those are the words from an old high school cheer, but how do you spell SUCCESS?

Here's one way......

S - set your goal - write it down on paper and see it daily

U - understand that their may be obstacles and look for ways to overcome them

C - clear your mind of any doubt that you will achieve your goal

C - create a positive mental picture - visualize yourself having what you want

E - embrace the challenge, don't get discouraged, keep your goal in mind at all times

S - stay on track, remember, even when you are heading in a straight line you have to make minor corrections in order to stay straight, but also remember that sometimes your track may bend and turn - go with the flow

S - show the world that you can do it!!

To your success!!!

Special Night

2005-06-04 Posted at 11:34:45 PM

It was an early start this morning - 5:30 am (yawn), but I had to get ready to go into town to ensure that everything was set up for the yard sale and carnival (for the Miss Renfrew Pageant) before I headed down to Ottawa for my Toastmasters' training.

I made it in time (despite the delay due to having to pay for the parking with coin or credit card - I'm sure there will be some comments on that!) and had a great morning with two terrific presenters.

Lunch found me dining with a fellow Toastmaster who was also hanging around until the evening Gala, then a short visit with friends and back to my meeting.

And what a meeting it was, awards and commendations for so many people, and surprise....one for me personally for trying to start up a new club.  I was touched - Sue Dalati brought me to tears as she spoke about my efforts and presented me with a certificate.  My heart swelled with pride and thankfulness for the wonderful group of Toastmasters that have been faithfully attending the meetings on Monday nights since last August.  Although we do not have enough people yet to charter, this is only a YET and we anticipate that next year we will be celebrating yet again as we are recognized as a full fledged club in Renfrew.

I am extremely grateful for the help and support of our outgoing Executive.  They have been as close as a phone call or an email and have attended a number of meetings at our fledgling club, taking part in our evening activities by performing evaluations, giving educational tips, doing general evaluations.  I couldn't have done it without them - France Vezina, Sue Dalati, Bob Brousseau, Simon Parcher, Jack Scott - thanks to all of you.

Fred Schuck of the Arnprior Toastmasters Club has also been extremely helpful as has Tony Smith of the Context Toastmasters Club in Ottawa.  Both have worked hard and been supportive in our regular meetings.  Fred even brought his Arnprior Club to Renfrew to do their meeting for our Open House - what a great night.

We have had the opportunity to host an area contest and other special activities and we look forward to hosting more.

Toastmasters is one of the best ways to build your self-confidence, not only in public speaking, but just in general.  Many people think that you have to speak at each meeting, but the truth is, there is only room for one or two speakers per meeting on the agenda.  The rest of the time is taken up by reports and table topics.  Each time you take on a role or participate in a table topic your self-confidence grows and so do your communication skills.  Our motto should be, "Try it, you'll like it!"    Don't be afraid - the only thing you have to fear is fear itself and remember the acronym fear means - False Evidence Appearing Real.  Don't let your unreasonable fear stop you from becoming a more self-confident person!

P.S.  Here is a poem I wrote about Fear

Fear

Of what am I afraid, you ask.
Of myself, I answer.
The self I have hidden deep down inside,
the one I'm afraid you won't like,
the one I sometimes don't like either.

I'm afraid that parts of this self
will rise to the surface
and I won't be able to push them back down.
I will no longer be able to hide them
and maybe I'll lose some of what I have
my friends,
my loves,
my present lifestyle.

I feel like so many parts of me are fighting
for control of my being.
I feel torn apart, confused,
v wondering what I can safely let out,
and what will escape.
I wonder how I'll put myself back together,
which pieces will stay, and
which will be gone.

I don't know what will happen
and I'm afraid of the unknown.
It's so much safer just existing as I am,
but I know I must face myself, my fears,
if I'm to have any peace,
and I want peace

 May God grant you peace!

Corey Rudl

2005-06-04 Posted at 11:12:19 PM

I was shocked and saddened when I started reading my emails this morning to hear about Corey Rudl.  I checked and rechecked the news stories and the emails, but by the time I read 10 or 15 of them, I realized it was true... the man who influenced thousands, and maybe even millions was gone.  A shining star whose light had been put out, but it has not died...it is alive in the heart and soul of each and every person that he helped.

So many were influenced, as I was, by the first purchase of his fantastic program and followed along with his instructions setting up their web business.  Each of those people has influenced many more.

Yes Corey, your life may have ended, but your light will never go out....!!  Your death may even influence more people as they read the tributes that are sent out to so many, many mailing lists.

My sincere sympathies to your family and friends in this sad time.

Its A Wonderful Life

2005-06-02 Posted at 06:19:24 PM

Today was such a wonderful day.....not too hot, sun was shining, no rain.  Even the fact that I had to work wasn't  so bad....LOL.

So many new things happening on the internet, this new blog, other new blogs, so many new websites, its almost overwhelming.  Thank goodness for simple Solutions.  Life is so much easier when you plan what you are going to do and then follow your plan.  Once you write it down, it is much easier.  For years I heard - write down your goal.  I always dismissed it, thinking, yes I know what my goal is, but I really didn't.  I didn't have any idea of exactly what I wanted or how to get it.  And that is the key.  Know WHAT you want, write it down, visualize it, then look at the STEPS you need to take to get there.

When  I first logged on to the internet I signed up with a company SFI and waited for the money to roll in.  After two years of gaining only a few people for my ezine, and reading lots and lots of emails and ebooks, I realized that the only way it was going to happen was to make it happen, to actually sit down and take some time to promote it, work at it.  I don't think I am alone in this.  It is one of the reasons that so many people give up.  They sit back and wait for things to happen to them instead of going out and making things happen FOR themselves.

I have started making some money with my various affiliate programs, not a lot, but more than I made at the beginning, and I am beginning to understand a little more about the whole marketing thing.  I have written a number of articles and submitted them and I am working on writing a few more.

This is a poem that I wrote that I think fits in very well with trying to start a business online or anywhere else.  It also fits in well just for personal use.  Please feel free to pass it around, but remember to keep my copyright information and my website info intact.  Thanks.

RISK

Do not be afraid to shine.
This world needs what you have to give.
Open up the areas of your being;
expose them to yourself - to others.
You are valuable.
You are unique.
You have much to give.
Do not be afraid to give it.

As we risk ourselves, we grow.
Each new experience is a risk:
we can try, and maybe fail,
and as a result, grow -
or hold back and stagnate.

You have the potential
to be anything you want to be!
You are free to choose.
You are limited only by your fears.
Let your dreams take over,
fly with the eagles,
soar into life,
the world is waiting for you!

Get out there, take that risk....you can only become better for it!
