N.Z. in Daylight Savings Now!
09:48:03 PM - 2007-09-29

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS  - ONE WEEK EARLIER THIS YEAR FOR NEW ZEALAND!
New Zealand went into daylight savings this morning 30 September 2007
One week earlier than other years.
As it is a overcast day with rain coming in tonight (day 1 in day light savings) plus very strong northeries winds it is not noticeable at all.
Most probably the dairy farmers have noticed it this morning, as late last night New Zealand All Blacks, played rugby against  Romania in the World Rugby Cup, New Zealand 85 - 8 for Romania.
There WILL BE some tired farmers as they would have gone to milk their cows this morning with very little sleep,
(having lost a hour in the change over 2 a.m. this morning).

Microsoft Windows must have patched my computer for the earlier day light saving change over as my clock is the correct day light saving time.
So life is pretty quite today as everyone in my household seems to be in Daylight Saving Mode.
(sleepy and quite).
New Zealand has three weeks longer this daylight saving season 2007-2008  -  2 weeks later in March 2008.

N.Z. Interest Rates High!
07:22:03 PM - 2007-09-23

WHY IS INTEREST RATES SO HIGH?
New Zealand's interest rates are among the highest in the developed world, with only Iceland (population 300,000) ahead of us.Our interest rates have been higher than other developed economies for the past 15 years, and nobody really knows why. In July 2007  the Reserve Bank of New Zealand had a select committee submit a paper entitled
"Why are New Zealand interest rates so persistently high by international standard's?"
In this report the bank raised a number of issues as possible explanations for this issue.
(1), Does the Reserve Bank set the Official Cash Rate too high?.
(2). Is New Zealand riskier than other developed countries?.
(3). Is it because we are so highly indebted?.
(4). Is it because New Zealand has a younger population and is investing more in growth and infrastructure?.
(5). Can we point the finger at our welfare system?.
NO our welfare system which is no greater than seen in many other smaller countries such as Sweden and Denmark, and their interest rates are lower than New Zealand.
It has been found that none of the above questions provide much explanation why our interest rates are so high.
In the paper the Reserve bank  touch on another factor why the interest rates are so high, one is our preference for
Housing as an Investment.
Kiwis are reluctent to buy shares, but are only to happy to borrow to buy property. This is perfectly understandable as property has been a great proformer over the last few years and it is less volatile than shares.
So nobody really knows why our interest rates are so much higher than other developed countries.
It is only making it much harder for young couples to own their own homes, as saving is so much harder for them,
trying to raise a family, paying outrages rent to landlords.
They get welfare help, but stillit is far to hard for our youger generation to cope with the cost of living, budgeting  is so hard for them to plan for the future.
No wonder there are as many broken family homes and children finding it hard to cope with all the changes in there life in this Beautiful Country New Zealand with the Interest Rates so high. and both Mum and Dad out earning a income just to pay for every day items, food and schooling expenses.
Where has the years gone when life was so simple, and children got out and enjoyed life instead of sitting in front of the T.V or playing Play Stations waiting for their parents to come home and talk of all the day's activities.
Why are New Zealand Interest Rates so high?

N.Z. global - warming heroes?
02:10:22 AM - 2007-09-15

N.Z. FARMERS - ARE WE CLIMATE - CHANGE HEROES?
New Zealand Farmers are being blamed for more greenhouse gases per head of populations than any other country.
As farmers we realise that we produce more agricultural emissions on a per head basis than European countries, Japan and the United States, as agricultural exporter, New Zealand has large numbers of animals .
40 million sheep, - 5 million cows, - compared to 4.1 million people.
There's no denying it: animals and farming produce greenhouse gases. But that's where the facts stop.
It is obvious why our emissions are high per head of population. We are food producers to the world, not just our own population. Most countries are not big agricultural exporters, at least not on New Zealand scale. Most countries typically consume 90% of the food they produce and sell 10% to the international markets.
Where as on the other hand New Zealand exports 90% of its meat and milk and consumes
less than 10%.
Are we climate - changing heroes?
Reports show that New Zealand is more energy efficient in the production of dairy, apples,
onions and lamb.
Another report say's that the UK emits 3472 kg's of carbon dioxide per tonne of milk solids compared to just 1371 kg's in New Zealand (including transport to the UK).
There are other reports that New Zealand farmers are global-warming heroes the above samples are only a few.
It may be that increasing greenhouse gas emissions in New Zealand to produce more food is overall a better way to curb climate change, and the whole world is better off.
Instead of getting a bad rap New Zealand farmers should be recognised for what thet truly are: Climate Change Heroes.

Pure,Simple and Healthy - Dairy Farming in N.Z.!
06:54:54 PM - 2007-09-01

POSITIVE TIMES FOR NEW ZEALAND DAIRY FARMERS BECAUSE OF FONTERRA!
A little Info for the Internet user reading my Blog on Fonterra, if you do not know, what Fonterra is!
Fonterra New Zealands Main Dairy Company is a Co-operative owned by around 11.000 New Zealand Dairy Farmers Suppliers. The Company has 26 primary processing sites countrywide, which manufacture a number of products including milk powder, butter, lactose and protein concentrate.
Fonterra has established strong markets - exporting to 140 markets - and international reputation in the global dairy industry. The marketing networks span every continent and reach almost every country in the world.
As a member of the co-operative, we have a say in how the company is run.
Fonterra produces some of the worlds most popular dairy brands, including Anchor, Anlene, Anmum, Fresh 'n Fruity, Mainland, Tip Top and Kapiti.
Positive times for New Zealand Dairy Farmers with Fonterra's announcement of $6.40 a Kilo Gram of Milk Solids for the 2007 - 2008 season. (which started 1st June 2007).
But Staffing the milk sheds could be a problem for Dairy Farm Owners.
The numbers of conversions planned in Canterbury and Southland in the South Island, for the coming 2008 season, at least 400 - 500 people with skills across all levels of Dairying will be required.
A lot of recruits come from the United Kingdom (UK) or South America where they have the qualifications and background with the ability to earn points to get residency.
Immigrants can get a work permit and work for the season.
The problem is not the land for conversions - it's the lack of people available to do the work.
WANT A CHANGE FOR THE COMING YEAR?
Come to New Zealand and try it out it is a Beautiful Country.
