In Memory of Lorna Hazel Olson 1946 - 2006
1 year ago we put my precious sister to rest in her Beautiful Garden of Peace after struggling for many years with the exhausting illness of Multiple Sclerosis!
The Cruelity of this life draining illness is so exhasting to the suffering victim and only those that know suffering victims, know how a perfect life can slowly be destroyed, as they fight the on going pain, and the down grading of a once perfect body, destroyed by Multiple Sclerosis.
May Peace be with you Lorna and all your days be perfect now you are in that Beautiful Garden at Kaponga,Taranaki,New Zealand, with the Tui's singing high in the Tree Tops to you.

Mount Ruapehu - Lahar Expected Any Day Now!

MOUNT RUAPEHU NEW ZEALAND - CRATER LAKE READY TO BREACH IT'S BANKS!
Mount Ruapehu one of the Three Mountains in the centre of the North Island in New Zealand
is ready to breach it's banks any day now, the lahar will most likely sweep through the Whangaehu Valley, with all the warm rain and glacial melt, we have had in the last week Mount Ruapehu crater lake is filling up fast.
It is less than 2.7 metres below the top, when it does happen, the torrent of water and debris will surge down the eastern slopes of the mountain smashing everthing in it's path, when it does, it will come very fast.
The Mountain last erupted in 1995-1996, living under Mount Egmont/Taranaki we could see
Mount Ruapehu billing out Black Smoke high into the air.
Christmas Eve 1953 Mount Ruapehu Erupted killing 151 people as it took out the Tangiwai Railway Bridge in it's path, and the first 6 carriages of the overnight Wellington to Auckland Express Train plunged off the bridge and into the Gorge.
How I remember that Christmas in 1953, I was only 13 but I will never forget it.Queen Elizabeth was in New Zealand at the time, one of the worst Christmas I can remember, there was no warning it was going to happen.
In 2007 that sort of tragedy will not happen as everything is ready for this sort of thing in this modern day and time.
Multi-Million Dollar systems are in place to warn Department of Conservation, Ruapehu District Council, Police and Emergency Management.
There is a 300 metre long gravel bund built along the Whangauhu River to prevent the lahar from spilling into the Waikato Stream and Tongariro River, their are good system in place everywhere to prevent any real damage due to crater lake on Mount Ruapehu ready to breach its banks.
