Development of Kupe has been a long time coming, it was discovered off the South Taranaki Coast in 1986.
Kupe Energy Project got the go ahead Yesterday and is expected to Start in September, be in Production by Mid-2009, it is expected to Produce Gas for New Zealand for 15 - 20 Years.
This New Project will meet 15% of New Zealands Annual GAS Demand!
Another Success Formula for Taranaki.
Once producing. Kupe is expected to Annually Yeild 20 petajoules of Gas, 90,000 tonnes of LPG and 1.7 million Barrels of condensate (light oil).
Another Success Formula for the already well known Crude Oil ,Natural Gas Success in Taranaki New Zealand.

on May 25th. He cannot be replaced â?" but his work will live on through

STILL NOT A SUCCESS FORMULA FOR CANTERBURY NEW ZEALAND!
Further to my Blog 13 June 2006 NZ's Weather not a Success Formula for Power Companies.
Here is a report off the Snowstorm in Canterbury!
Still parts of Canterbury South Island New Zealand are without Power from the 13 June Snow Storm.
Last night TV News said that a young family with four Children had been without Power for over a week now, with the Met service issueing a Servere Weather Warning for the Canterbury Plains and Kaikoura Ranges today 21 June, while the amount of snow would not be a problem on its own, combined with the heavy snow still lying in the region it would cause further disruption to residents feeling the effects of last weeks weather.Isolated communities have been given emergency radios in case of more power and phone cuts affect communications,and Civil Defense has generators ready to provide some electricity to affected areas.Helicopters have been put on standby to reach stranded households and animals.
Army Personnel and Air Force Helicopters are also on call in case the situation worsens.
Shortest day in New Zealand today 21 June, Taranaki had it's Mid Winter Swim this morning 7.30 am in freezing temperatures - about 200 took the plumge, now the Southern Hemisphere is on it's way up the Hill to Summer. (Looking Forward to it). Check This Out!

Ski Feilds where open on Mount Egmont/Taranaki yesterday, a good covering of Snow, 50 cm has fallen since Sunday on already good covered snow ground, more coming tomorrow!
So come on all you skiers, Mount Egmont/Taranaki has the best covering of snow so early in the winter for some years.

N.Z. Battered By Bad Weather - Not A Success Formula!

NZ's WEATHER NOT A SUCCESS FORMULA FOR POWER COMPANIES!
New Zealand has been Battered With Stormy Weather, From the Top of the North Island Down,From the Bottom of the South Island up!Canterbury Farmers had been warned of a fast moving front heading north and some rain,but there was no mention of snow, but the snow was down to very low levels.
Some parts of the South Island experienced their deepest snowfalls for more than 30 years, which had thousands of houses and rural properties without power as the snow toppled trees,brought down power lines in high winds, last night there where still some 3,000 homes without power overnight, 24 hours later there are still homes without power,that was tonight news headlines,I feel very sorry for them, as we where without power for 28 hours in Okoki,Urenui, Plus Phone out, I sure missed my Computer, it makes you appreciate the Power, (what would we do without it .) POWER!
In the North Island Auckland had a Power Blackout, It Plunged Auckland into chaos, as yesterday Heavy Winds caused wide spread Power failure, closed businesses,left rush hour traffic flounding without signals, Hospital Emergency services running only on emergency generators.People stuck in lifts and sirens wailed as the blackout triggered false Fire Alarms,It took eight hours for electricity to be restored, about 700,000 people where affected before power was restored, although about 12,000 Auckland homes where without power last night.
Taranaki also took a Pounding as Rain and High winds hit at Gale force. Which had me fearing for my life as it seemed to lift the house off it's foundations, In my Beautiful Valley which is sheltered from all winds.
24 hour Rainfall at Dawson Falls on Mount Egmont/Taranaki recorded 287 mm rain had fallen,North Egmont on the mountain recorded 216mm in 24 hours (that was some rain) that came down the rivers off the mountain.
The Coast of, off Taranaki is sure telling a story today as it is a Full Moon in New Zealand at the moment,Such High Tides with the large swells pounding our Beautiful coastline.
Work in Restoring Electricity was delayed when High Winds made it too dangerous for workmen to climb their ladders.
New Zealand's Weather is not a Success Formula for the Power Companies as two day's later there are homes still without POWER!
