Trials of the Webmaster..

Being a proficient webmaster is a truly time-consuming business but it does has it dividends. I am getting used to checking out all the little blubs and gizmos which make my site what it is and am amazed by what the little things can do for your site.

Keywords are a good example. Learning to play the keyword game can be a profitable exercise but it is good time spent. There are many good keyword tools out there (Overture, Niche Bot, etc.); the secret is finding one and using it to keep the search bots happy when they come to your site. Remember to stay with the relevant and use what's actually on your site to pick the keywords you will use in the meta tags.

Design is another little item that affects the operation of your site. While it is true that graphics don't drive traffic, visitors are affected somewhat by what they see in terms of how well designed a web page's layout is and may be prompted to stay a bit longer or visit ads on a site they are attracted to visually. I have started playing around a bit with some of my pa
ges to see what works and what doesn't. If you are a webmaster, you might want to make sure that your visitors aren't at least scared away by your page designs.

As with all things, content is king. Strive to give your visitors a reason to visit and stick around at your site. Visit  other sites to see what's out there and take advantage of linking to bring the outside world into your site. Give your audience a good show and they will always be back for more.

Right now, I am tinkering around with blogging and trying to tie that in with my website as it is a good medium for getting feedback and comments from people who come to my sites. If you're not into blogging, I suggest you consider it to bring people to your site. It's fun, relaxing, and a good way to connect with people as well as a time-tested traffic driver.

Until the next time we meet my friends,

E, king of nye
