Just like a lot of you, I spend time promoting my site online. When I was new to internet marketing, I tried a lot of the marketing gimmicks out there. Running affiliate downline pages on the traffic exchanges. Sending emails out to purchased lists of leads. Co-oping with other people to buy even more leads. You name it, chances are I tried it.
Now as a more seasoned marketer, I realize that gimmicks don't work. You have to take the time to develop your own marketing advertising in a systematic manner. It's an easy process that anyone can learn an be successful with. The key is not to reinvent the wheel. There are successful free advertising systems you can use and what even better is you can always start out without spending a lot out of your pocket. What it takes is discipline and focus.
Use your own web site and domain. Free hosting is a mark of an amateur and does not help you to get search engine traffic which is the main point to doing your own online advertising. Get a host that will give you the support you need and adequate tools to work with.
Sit down and jot down some ideas for the marketing niche you want to specialize in. You can check out how much demand there is for these by using the search engines to check your ideas.
Develop a professional brand for yourself. You can use your photo as a brand as it is unique to you and can attract people to your ads.
Turn out your own marketing advertising campaign. Write articles for free distribution. Put up blogs on subject matter you are expert at and link to your pages in your postings. Run your ads in traffic exchanges, safelists and other free ad mediums. You can take advantage of online classifieds, forums, and other places to advertise online.
Share links with other websites similar to yours. Doing so will establish you as an expert in your niche and attract spiders from the search engines which will increase your traffic. If you are building an affiliate downline, you will need to use or develop a system that your downline can duplicate.
By far the best free advertising system I have seen is a program called MoneyLegs. You can begin with them for free and develop your advertising like a pro. Check them out in my ad banners below. Keep your advertising highly targeted and built around the audience you want to attract. You are not trying to market to the world, only to people who are interested in what you have to offer. By being systematic and constant, your marketing advertising will help you to achieve your goals.
Have been away for a bit from my blog publishing but I am back with more tips and suggestions to help you out with your business online.
Today's talk centers on site popularity. No doubt, you've seen tons of ads offering you to "get to number one on Google or Yahoo" or offering to mass submit your site to hundreds if not thousands of search engines and directories and such. These are not smart ways to win popularity for your site and may even get you branded as a spammer in many places online. There are much more better and efficient ways to promote your site and build a good traffic following.
First, get yourself some tools. A good keyword tool such as Good Keywords or Wordtracker is a must if you want to win at the search engine game. Invest what you need to get one of these and give it a good workout whenever you start optimizing web pages. Another tool I use is the Alexa website so I know how much traffic is coming to my site versus my competition. Google offers a great keyword tool from its Adwords program that you can gauge how much traffic keywords you have selected stack up as far as attracting search traffic and how much competition you can expect for a keyword.
You want to get in the habit of building links to your site from other webmasters or sites that are relevant to yours. Doing this efficiently is a trick but niche directories are a good way to start the process. You can find these by doing a search in the major search directories using your keywords plus the term "directory" or "niche directory". Once you have located a number of directories, you can submit your site (some will let you submit pages as well). If the directory has a lot of traffic coming to it (you can use Alexa to check this) you may want to consider getting a paid listing. These generally run from $15 to $30 dollars a year for the ad and can be beneficial to helping you make a permanent home in the higher rankings on the major search engines.
Making forum posts and blog posts linked to pages on your site also gets you more play from the major search engines. They see this as fresh contest and often reward you for these links. Having a blog within your domain is a big plus and is a highly recommended move if you can manage it well.
Getting articles from other authors for visitors to your site can be an asset. I usually place these in a newsletter that is accessible from the main pages of my site so readers can browse through them. They also count as a plus when the spiders come from the search engines and this just gives my site popularity a boost in the fresh content category.
Once you get the hang of it, you will come up with your own means of improving your site popularity by building content and promoting out in the internet arena where your audience can find you. While it is not hard, it is a continuous process and you need to work at it to stay competitive.
Many a new marketer joins up to an opportunity, follows the wisdom of their sponsors and up line and finds that nothing happens no matter how hard they try. In desperation, they throw money at the problem to no avail. Sound familiar?
What is missing is what I like to call "proper business education". An online business is a business like any other enterprise and to be successful at it, you must learn the basics and follow them every day to get the success you are looking for. So what are the basics?
1) Start with a plan and goals. Get your ideas and direction for your business on paper. Think about where you want to be 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and 3 years with your plan. Then, figure out how you intend to accomplish each step. Doing so will make you plan realistically and you will come out with a more practical plan in the beginning.
2) Execute. Break down your goals into daily, weekly and monthly plans of action. If you are a net worker, go over these plans with up line and start working on them right away.
3) Review and reevaluate. Look over what you are doing and make sure it is working the way you planned it to. If not, consider making changes and stick with what is working if you find it to be effective.
4) Get educated. Invest in your long term career by buying books, guides, videos in your chosen business niche. Do research on trends in your business fields regularly and try to stay on the cutting edge. Study your competition and know what they are doing so you can stay ahead of them. This is by far what many marketers fail to do and is the key to long term success.
Yes, it's a jungle of obstacles out there waiting to derail you and your business, but by being smart, you can avoid the pitfalls and surge ahead to succeed.

Social Networking Sites -- More to Love
Social Networking sites are becoming quite the rave. And for good reason. They are a friendly way to meet people and to find like minded individuals who share your interests. What is a new wrinkle however is the way people are starting to use these to promote their business. While I am new at this, I can tell you that there is research that bears this fact out. Two of the biggest social networking sites, MySpace and Facebook, are beginning to rival the big search engines like Google and Yahoo with their sheer traffic numbers. Social networking sites are slated to be one of the biggest trends right now on the internet. Why am I telling you this? Because this is where you want to market and is the future of your business online!
There are three sites that I am familar with that I can give personal recommendations on:
Yuwie is a friendly social networking site that features paying its users for page views to their profiles. It pays ten levels down and is drawing the strongest traffic out of the three sites I mentioned (rank 2,159 on Alexa). It features blogs, numerous interest clubs, and tons of stuff to do.
From the business side, Yuwie is a great way to promote but the blogging feature is a bit hard to play with. Since it pays cash for page views, you can trade contacts and make a little money on page views. This is home for my Free Income from the Internet Club so Iinvite you to become a member and drop by.
When you are there, don't forget to add me to your friends list! The more friends you have, the further word spreads about you so make plenty. Joining is free so don't tussle over making your mind up.
This site is the future. Cool tools like blogs, chat rooms, video resumes and dating, slick profiles and more make FriendsWin super user friendly. Just launched it is quickly catching up to Yuwie in terms of members and tons of people are joining it everyday. If you are a member of DiveForIncome, Chris Wysocki has caught the fever on this one and it is for good reason.
FriendsWin is poised to be one of the biggest social networking sites and the opportunity to get on it's money train may not be much better than right now. It is a cutting edge technology savvy site that will soon be most popular amongst surfers and people who love super cool video resumes and dating profiles. You can become an IMR (FriendsWin lingo for Independent Marketing Rep) and earn 5 levels down with the pay plan. For $9.97 a month it's not a bad deal.
The best part of FriendsWin is not even on the site. It's called FriendsWin University and its sole misssion is to make you a total success as an IMR. The coaches here are very, very good at what they do and they teach techniques here for free that you can apply to any business. Check out my post in the student blog (hey the king can profile too!) FriendsWinUniversity Student Blog.
Convinced? If not you should be. Do me and Chris a favor and join FriendsWin and DiveForIncome at the same time and let us show you the money!
DirectMatches is a super place to meet other business contacts and make friends. It is the oldest of the three and boasts a thriving membership. It is built some what like a series of tabs and everything is easy to find.
You can have a free membership here and make lots of contacts. The thing to remember is there are a lot of business people here and you have to pretty much brand yourself on your profile. Still there are lots of educational tools here and you can get a first class education in internet marketing from rubbing shoulders with many of the success stories on DirectMatches front page.
If you are a beginner, swapping tales with more knowledgeable marketers will grow your business by leap years. You can join for free and upgrade when you are ready.
Why should you join these sites? These are the future of your business and tons of contacts and potential prospects will be depending on how good you get at promoting your business on sites just like these. A friend of a friend of a friend is how business will get done on the internet in the near future and my advice to you is to join these sites and learn to use them to your benefit.

Hello sports and kingdom fans. Welcome to my first post of 2008. If you are smart, you are checking the pulse and planning exactly where you want your business to go in 2008. Leaders take note: with the holidays over, it's a new prospecting season and there's no better time than now to build your business.
One of the things you should be doing is learning search engine optimizationsoyou can groom your way to the top of the search engines. Continuing to build your lists using lead generation advertising is also important. Concentrating on these two activites and blogging and keeping fresh content on your site will build a solid traffic foundation and keep customers for your business.
One of my focus points this year will be auto responders for mailing list leads. Follow up is where the money is and consistently working with the leads you generated with your lead generation advertising is where you will get the best value. Just keep in mind that if you keep in touch with your customer base and give them value for their association with you (i.e. give them the information they seek), they will reward you eventually.
Splash pages are another great tool to work with. Just be certain when you create them that you point them to a page that will place the mailing list leads they create on your list. If anything, one of the lessons I learned in 2007 is that no one can insure that happens better than you. Then you can send out your own recommendations to that list.
Success is a continuous improvement process and if you keep working on the basics the only direction you will head is up. Create a persistent process of creating traffic, optimizing your web pages for lead generation advertising, and good follow up with your leads. Doing so will point your business down the avenue of success.

Site Reviews You Can Use My Straight and Skinny Opinion on Internet Web Hosting and Small Business Internet Solutions
One of the most successful search engine communities you probably never heard of. Why? Because TsunamiGold quietly works doing double time as a search engine and traffic exchange all rolled up in one. What is remarkable is you never have to surf it to use it unless you want to!
Because it lists a broad variety of sites and has a corresponding blog for new admissions, TsunamiGold acts as a powerful advertising medium, especially for small business and anyone wanting to advertise to a large extended community. TsunamiGold also has a loyalty bonus program for its paid members (free members can also participate in this if they meet certain criteria, read the site's FAQ for more details once you join).
Have a site that needs more traffic but afraid to use pay per click because you don't know how it works? You can use TsunamiGold to learn using the traffic credits you have in the program to bid on keywords within the search engine. If you have a site, you can display a search box or a power ads box (ads from other TsunamiGold members) to earn credits for your own ads. So even if you don't surf, you can get your ads looked at simply by using this option. Plus you can look at what other users are bidding for a keyword so you can adjust your own bid. Not to mention that you get override credits for referring new members.
Upgrading in TsunamiGold is easy. You can come in as a "Gold Panner"(TsunamiGold's lowest upgrade) at $7.95/month, get an upgrade as "Claim Holder" ($11.95/mo), or you can buy the one-time Speculator package which gives you the best value for the money, at $39.95. The advantage with the Speculator package is it gives you a position in the Loyalty Gold Matrix, the loyalty rewards program for TsunamiGold.
Since TsunamiGold is a member of a program family with SEOSquid and MoneyLegs, you can get advantages by being a member of all three at the same time. Which is why I encourage people to join all three at once (It costs you nothing up front and you can join all three just remember SEOSquid has a 30 day free trial and you can read more about it here).
To help you see how the search box and power ads work, I have placed them at the bottom of this review (I didn't tell you this was an interactive review did I? Sorry!). I guess the only drawback with TsunamiGold is that sometimes people get lost in the details. Want more traffic to your site? Simple, get more credits and bid to get the keywords you want so people see your site. Put a box on your site and watch the traffic flow!
Hello everyone. Hoped you had a great Thanksgiving . I am writing this from my mother-in-law's home in Paris, Texas where it is a bit cold and windy outside but having the time of my life with my daughter Shamise and her two kids, Jaden and Jamarion and the rest of the family. We went outside and picked pecans off the ground with the kids and had a fabulous time.
This week topic is on branding yourself online. Branding is a self discovery process as it involves the display of your personal internet domain and selling yourself online. You try things, tweak pages and try to make yourself attractive to your prospects online. The key is to progress through all of this while gaining recognition in the search engines, monetizing your site so you get income from it and making your site distinct from everyone's else's. Quite a balancing act but it can be done.
Let's look at some basics for branding yourself online:
Put your face on your place. Your photo is the one item that is unique to you that lends instant credibility to your business. Just like in the real world, people want to interact with you personally when they do business with you. Let them know who you are by getting your photo on your web pages and get yourself known.
Take your time and build your personal internet domain. This is a continuous process but you should start organizing at the beginning so it is easier to add on and make changes in the future as you grow. Some things to think about:
An index or site map to help people get to where they want to go on your site.
Content. I can't tell you what to put here but it should be relevant to the theme of your site. Basically, you should offer your visitors something of value and "goodies" that show them just how much you appreciate them. This is where your online creativity should kick in and where you can make your site different from your competition.
Site revenue. Guide your visitors toward your recommended offers and make sure you capture their name and email so you can contact them through email or IM to build a relationship with them for future sales. When you build traffic to your site, you can consider ad venues to take advantage of your growing online presence.
Interact and communicate with others. Exchange links with other site owners. Participate in forums and advertise your site. Post articles and build your reputation as an expert in your field. There are lots of things you can do to let others know about you and to build your branding of yourself easily.
You will also want to work on getting traffic to your site. A great way of doing this is explained in the advanced course offerings in SEOSquid where you can sign up now for a free 30 day trial. You can become a member for as little as $12.97 and get total hosting and support for your personal internet domain. SEOsquid teaches you how to take advantage of search engine optimization and other techniques such as viral marketing to drive much needed traffic to your site.
Branding is not an overnight process but it is a bit like building a building one brick at a time. Ignore people who tell you you can "get rich" overnight and resolve that you will take the time to build your business properly. Taking the time to do it right now will give you a business you can proud of and a sterling reputation online.

This week seems to have stirred thoughts within me and passions that I had when I first started my internet business. I usually do a teaching lesson with my blogs but this one will be my own unadulterated opinion. So be forewarned and judge my comments for yourself.
We had a great open discussion this past Thursday night in the GJW conference room on the subject of downline integrity and how it relates to the traffic exchange industry. Many of the notable traffic exchange owners were there and voiced their opinions on the subject. There were good opinions and bad and I learned a lot from listening to the comments of those I disagreed with.
One owner who was there made a statement about downline building being a total waste of time and energy. He also stated that having a person strictly build their list and attract people to it should be the sole activity of people working the traffic exchanges.
If you know me, you will know that I think nothing could be further from the truth. Many of the people who team up with me often come with few or little resources when they get started with their businesses and if you were to believe those statements, these people should just fold up their tents and call it quits. Downline building is an integral part of list building and often the two work hand in hand. Many of those who have wound up being on my teams in afilliate programs and in my traffic exchange teams often came through the process of downline building.
I do advocate list building but I believe that it has its place in relation to downline building. There are tons of ways to build lists the most effective being the use of lead capture pages. The major argument I have is with owners who use their membership list as a launching base for signing them up for other afilliate programs, traffic exchanges and such through email. The concept is simple: why would I send people on my list to an owner who is going to bombard them with links in their email to programs I am trying to promote in that same exchange?
Also there is the issue of insuring that I get credit for people that I bring to that program. Without an assurance that my efforts to bring people to a program will be properly rewarded, I am simply working as a tool to enrich the owner without any benefits to myself and my business. In other words, I am chasing my tail when I advertise or promote such sites.
Owners who use and abuse their members and build their programs on the backs of their members are simply unfair. No amount of money they could possibly earn by raping their members in this manner makes it right. And it's our job as members of these programs to demand honesty and fairness from their owners.
That's why I support Rob Gehring and Juli Norwood in their efforts to bring back honesty and fairness to an industry that has gone amok and forgotten its roots. To the owners who have joined the Downline Integrity Brigade and taken the initiative to listen to their members, I say thanks. To the other owners who are listening to these arguments, I give the advice: listen to your members and treat them as you would want to be treated.
Also know that team building is alive and well and kicking. The internet is a big place and we all need friends and to build relationships with those we do business dealings with. A smile, a simple hello once in a while and "Happy Birthday" when appropiate are all signs of having a good relationship with those you are in business with.
Speaking of which, a big "Happy Birthday' goes out to Chris Wysocki and DiveForIncome, 50 and 2 years old, on November 13th in that order. Without DiveForIncome, I can say a lot of my list building efforts would fall very short of where they are now. Thanks Chris for bringing us the internet's greatest downline and team builder of them all.
If I made you mad, so be it. It's time for the traffic exchange industry to realize it's in the service business and the ultimate power belongs to the members. Members take note and use your power to surf where it benefits you and your team. That's my 2 cents so take the time to spend them well and have a great week!
Hi loyal readers and friends. We are coming up on the holiday season and I am geting geared up for it. As promised, I have pics of young Prince Javon who has decided to go this Halloween as the Grim Reaper this year (from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends -- don't fret if you don't recognize it, it's a new cartoon and one of his favorites). Plan to have lots of fun this season and hope your season will be as happy as mine.
Leaders, I have promsed to give small tidbits on traffic generation and this one deals with a traffic subject near and dear to my heart - blogging. Many of us shy away from it because it is a bit of a chore to keep up and because it keeps us from the fun of surfing, but in today's competitive world of internet advertising it is the one tool you just can't be without for getting search engine traffic.
Blogs can be thought of as the "candy" of the search engines. The major search engines often spider for new content and blogs and forum posts are often looked at because of their relative content-rich qualities and fresh new material on subject matter. Smart internet marketers pick up on this and use it as a deliberate part of their advertising campaigns. Our fomer mentor Doug Williams called this theblogosphere explosion.
So how do you get started down the road of getting blogs and blog content as part of your traffic campaigns? There are several great ebooks contained in SEOSquid to assist you with beginning work with blogs as well as the "Blogging and Winning" course in MoneyLegs. One great first step is to become a member of BlogEstates and the GJW Forum and to make a habit of reading posts in both places on a regular basis.
Posting comments are great and in the forum you can include a small signature file with links you wish to promote. The importance of these are they bring exposure to your links from the search engines.
The exposure from the blogosphere can get you real name recognition and traffic. You should start with a topic that is familiar with you and start to make posts. Don't worry too much about content and form in the beginning, the idea is to get your name and ideas out there for others to see.
Courses in SEOSquid and our advanced SWARM training classes provide a plethora of knowledge and are key in gaining a working knowledge of how to work with the search engines and building traffic to the most important site on the internet -- your domain. Don't have one yet? Join SEOSquid and take advantage of our basic hosting package. Here you can take the vital first step to getting serious about having your own presence on the internet.
You don't build a kingdom in a day and getting your own presence in the blogosphere won't happen overnight either. Take baby steps, learn with us and eventually you will get there and be better for the effort.
Hello all my fellow internet marketers, newbies and loyal royal subjects. Hope you are having a great week. The rush-rush of my regular job has finally slowed down and I am finally able to come post some more great wisdom in my blog and share my thoughts with you all.
Have done a little redecorating over at ElridgeJones.com and hope you all like what I've done with the place. All my links there should be active and if you haven't taken a look-see, now's your chance.
Today I'd like to give you all a glimpse at some of my primary businesses and maybe give you a little inspiration to try some of them on for size yourself. I have done my 'due diligence' where these are concerned and I can heartily recommend them to you, my friends. You can always find the links to these on my cyberportal page at my web site.
The Berry Tree/Nutronix. I can proudly say this is a fine work of art. Nutronix has put together a program for those of us on-the-go who would gladly get into a program if we could talk to people, sell or recruit. None of that is required here. The program rewards you for simply sticking with it and being a loyal member. Lots of earning potential for leaders and go-getters as well.
ItsYourNet. Where else can you go to earn commissions on yourself? Plus a nice lineup of products (payment processing, dial-up, wireless, professional phone answering service, virtual office/worlds and more). Sign up is free and signing up others is easy.
MoneyLegs. My perennial favorite. 50% commissions for upgraded members and a one-time $49.95 Lifetime upgrade fee. It's the gift you give yourself that keeps giving and giving. Packed with educational tools and resources for internet marketers, this is an easy choice.
SEOSquid. The advanced marketing program for MoneyLegs. Hosting, advanced internet marketing training you can't find anywhere else, and hi powered tools like autoresponders, banner/page makers, trackers and more. Starting at $19.97/month for a Basic Host package, it's a totally great deal.
All these are active income building streams for me and the pillars of my efforts online. If you are not a member of these, I highly encourage you to join as they are solid programs with great earning potential. In internet marketing, sitting on the sideline only gets you so far. The real rewards come to those who actually get in the game and participate. So take my advice and get in the game!
