What Shall We Do For The Love Of Google
10:11:21 AM - 2006-08-29

We all love to be loved, and it is human nature to receive love and give love. This love that we receive and give is what makes us what we are. We have different ways of showing our affections and people perceive it differently.

To feel part of something means that we are all part of a group and each person is part of different groups according to the different environments we live in. At home you might be the boss or number two but at work you are number ten or one for that matter.

In each group there is a hierarchy system in place. It is natural because we need to know who and where we are and how we fit into this structure. In some structures there will be competition for the top places, like in the workplace, but in the home environment there will usually be an accepted structure where no one is competing for the other ones position.

If you however are competing for a higher position your adversary is not the hierarchy system but the person who is in the position which you wish to obtain. In the animal kingdom this is mainly done by brute force, whereas for us humans it is cunning and strategy.

Whether it is at home or at work or any other place this hierarchy system is in place, the system does not change and it is there for the sole purpose of order.

This brings us to the hierarchy in the internet. The search engines are in a hierarchy of their own competing for the top position for what they do, which is finding relevant information for the people who are using them.

The three main contenders for the top position are Google, Yahoo and MSN. They are the advisories of one another. Now these are all huge businesses and their purpose is a good experience for the visitor that means they want to give the visitor what he is looking for, good information.

As a webmaster you are in the hierarchy of web pages competing for the top position that the search engines give as results to their visitors. Would you agree that the purpose of the search engine is different from yours?

Here is the million dollar question, why are so many webmasters under the impression that they are fighting with the search engines for top positions?

You are not competing with the search engine for the top position; your adversary is the site that is in the top position now. This is the page the search engine favors, and it is giving the search engine what it requires.

To enable you to get on the first page of any search engine result for your specific keywords you need to do the same but better.

To be able to compete for those top positions you need to know everything about your adversaries so that once you come up against them you are fully prepared.

How do you go about doing this?

  • First and foremost, content. Visit each of the top ten results and have a look at what content and how much they are providing. Check the keyword density of the keywords on each page. Now you will know how to structure and write your content.

  • Next, look at their title tags, meta tags, bold, italic, image alt tags, h1 and h2 tags. Note all of this information down so you are able to emulate the way in which they have prepared their pages.

  • See how many outgoing links there are on the page and what the anchor texts of those links are.

  • Have a look if their keyword phrase is in the first and last twenty five words of their text.

  • Now have a look at how many sites are linking to them, the anchor text, and you will know what you need from an off page optimization perspective.

  • Once you have all this information at hand you can prepare your page to compete, and have a chance.  Emulate what they have done and make it better.

Remember writing your own content is always the best idea but you can use articles and PLR content.

Don’t try to fight the search engine, it is your ally, your foe is the sites that have the top positions. Give the search engines what they need and you will receive what you need.

Your success relies on the knowledge of who your allies are and who your adversaries are and what they are doing.

Just as you would do for your loved ones, go out of your way to give them what they need and want, so too you as a webmaster should love the search engines and give them what they want and they will love you in return. So what are you prepared to do for the love of Google?

To find the right keywords means to be found by the search engine visitors and give you that much wanted generic search traffic. Find out how to do just that at find your keywords

All About The Customer- The One Arriving At Your Storefront
07:13:00 AM - 2006-08-25

Do you know the three secrets of successful list building that only one in every one hundred marketers are applying? If not you are losing a lot of money.

You know the feeling of waiting for something or someone to arrive. The excitement builds as the time comes closer and the anticipation nearly becomes unbearable.

You know the feeling of disappointment when the time has arrived, and then nothing happens, the questions, the utter feelings of disgust.

Nobody likes to be let down, not for any reason.

The same applies for your online business, you have a dream, a vision and it is your dire wish to make a success of this venture.

Why not? You have spent money and huge amounts of time planning and creating it. And you are now awaiting the arrival of the visitors. But when they come it is not what you had expected.

With any offline business you need clients, you supply the product they require and they buy from you. But you have to sell what they need. It is of no use if they are looking for dog food and you are selling them a lovely toolbox filled with tools.

There are two reasons why they will not be buying from you even though you got them into the store.

The first one is obvious, you are not selling what they need and want when they are there. The second reason is that they are not in the mindset of spending more money than what dog food would cost. They came prepared to buy dog food.

You would agree that this is a very stupid way of going about business and you would probably not last very long.

The big question now is how did all these people get into your store in the first place?

Let’s say you only had a door and they were not able to see through a window, and your name certainly did not reflect what you are doing, so they came by just because they were curious. Remember people love browsing around, but I can bet you quite a few went past your store who would have been interested in what you have on offer, if they only knew.

Nowhere on your billboard, advertising or in your name did you make any reference to what you are all about. Nice tricky little writing got people to walk in, but very few if any actually bought anything.

It is just so strange that this type of marketing is spread so widely all over the internet.

The advertising is non descriptive just trying to get the person to click on a link.

How much money do you think they are making versus the clicks they are receiving?

Just getting people to your sales page will not make them buy;
you need to let them know upfront before they are clicking through what you are all about.

That does not mean you should be uncreative in your advertising, what it means is that you should think more creatively to find real interested visitors to your pages, unless you do that you will be throwing loads of cash down the drain, meaning that the dog wont have a bone.

Now we don’t want the dog without a bone because before the dog had the bone the bone had meat which we had. So if the dog does not have a bone, you don’t have any food.

So the main idea behind your marketing effort is to find out which people you need to attract to your site. For this you have to do some research in your chosen market to find the search terms and sites that are frequently visited by your target audience.

You also need to know that the market you are targeting actually buys products, and don’t just browse around. This information you should research before you even attempt to create your product or start marketing your affiliate product.

The next step is to build a list of people that are really interested in the products and information you have on offer. It is your list which means you are allowed with their permission to send them information and products.

This is where your real money lies and will be the most important factor to the future success of your online business.

So before you create that all important new product, keep these points in mind and create a long term sustainable business that would ensure that the dog will have a bone.

Without a list you will just be living of the scraps falling from the table. Learn how to build a successful list using the three methods that only one in one hundred marketers are applying correctly. List Building

Squeeze Pages, The Real Deal
01:41:33 PM - 2006-08-13

Squeeze pages or landing pages, you have heard about them, you have seen them; you might not even have noticed when you were on one of them.

Do they really squeeze money out of visitors?

The real question is however: “Why are so many internet marketing businesses failing?”

Honestly, there is so much information available on the net, for sale and for free on how to create a profitable internet business. How is it possible for so many to fail?

Is success only deemed for a few or are most marketers just simply failing to do the basics right.

What many first time internet marketers fail to realize is that the internet like any other business needs your time and effort.

There is no autopilot business. The people that are on autopilot, or claim to be, have meticulously created their sites over a period of time and it now seems to be running on autopilot. It still requires work and attention to keep it going in the right direction.

There are a few basic elements to consider when starting your internet business.

  • You need to be prepared to do some work.

  • You have to create your own site.

  • You have to make your pages SEO friendly.

  • You need to get your site indexed.

  • And most importantly you need to build a list.

You will notice that every successful internet marketer does two things well over and over again.

  • They continually build their list.
  • They follow up on every visitor that showed an interest in their product.

The money is in the list, you can read it anywhere on the net. It has been proven over and over again that if you have an active list you will make money, either from them buying your product or promoting your product as affiliates.

So how do you go about building your list?

First of all you do not want a generic list, meaning that all your subscribers are opting in from one form to the same autoresponder where you have one bland sales letter after another going out to all of them.

This is a recipe for disaster to put it mildly.

You need to create different lists for different niches. So when you send out an email targeting a specific product or service you are promoting you know exactly which one of the lists you own is the correct target market.

To achieve this you need to create squeeze pages or landing pages for each of the affiliate products you promote which is linked to a separate autoresponder for each.

  • Every squeeze page needs to be unique to the audience you are targeting.
  • You must have an opt-in form on each squeeze page to ensure you are able to contact the visitor again.
  • You need to create seven to ten follow up emails for each opt-in list.
  • You need to create an offer which is related to the product you are promoting in exchange for the visitors email address. This can be an email course on a subject, an ebook, report or anything that the visitor will find interesting related to his search and the product you are promoting.

Very few people buy with the first visit. Most sales are made after seven or more emails have been sent to the visitor.

This is the secret to multiple sales and a high conversion rate for your products you are promoting.

To answer the question at the top “Do squeeze pages squeeze money from visitors?” Yes they do, if used and implemented in the correct manner.
