Your Landing Strip?
01:24:25 PM - 2006-03-18

Create Your Own Software In 9 Easy Steps, Resell Rights!

The traffic had been hectic, parking as per usual was a nightmare and you are almost late, the plane will land in less than 5 minutes as you rush through the front entrance. You spot the brightly lit up board with arrival times and soon you are fighting your way through the mass of lingering bodies to get close enough to see. You have risked a lot and spent a fortune to get to here.

Eventually you get a good view as the six foot guy in front of you decides to move on after you had been zigzagging behind him for about a minute, which felt more like an hour.

Your eyes scan the details from the incoming fifty planes, but you don't see the flight anywhere. It must be there, you think, the date and time is correct. You scamper over to the information desk as quickly as possible, and with a dazed look on your face a kind lady tells you that the plane will not be landing here, it is going to land in a place you barely know.

A cold chill runs down your spine when you suddenly realize that now you will never meet, speak or exchange names. All the effort and money you put in has been for someone else. Where that plane now lands they will meet with open arms and they will get to know each other. All you end up with is maybe a little thank you note, later on.

Yes, it is bad isn't it?

So, why are you doing it to yourself, every day?

Most affiliate marketers are doing this every day without even noticing it. You are paying for all the tickets, but the passengers you paid for are all landing at a totally different airport. They are eagerly welcomed by someone else who will get to know them and gain from them.

So what exactly am I going on about here.

It is called landing pages, if you are an affiliate marketer and you are not using landing pages you are losing out, big time.

As an affiliate marketer you are marketing someone else's products, which is a good thing, as it gives you time to market and not spend ages creating new products. Affiliate marketing has worked well for a lot of people over a long period of time and it will continue to work. You, as an affiliate, should ensure that you receive your fair share of the profits.
Remember, when you buy on the internet you always give your details. Be it to receive updates or to get to the download page. As a result you are then placed on their list. They can mail you at any time with a new product or service they are offering, and in most cases if you as an affiliate sent the customer there for the first sale, you will not see anything from consecutive sales made. Whether this is fair or not, does not matter, what matters is what you do to get the advantage back.

Have your own landing pages!

First of all, successful marketers have a list, that is a list containing the details of people that are interested, or have shown interest, in the products or services they are marketing. Many of those lists make recurring sales over and over again. Make sure you create your own.

Your landing page has two distinct functions, first to pre-sell the product you are promoting and secondly to capture the email address of a potential customer.

What exactly is a landing page?

A landing page is exactly what it says, it is your landing strip for all the tickets you are paying. Creating this page will take some time and effort from you, but trust me it is worth every second you spend. You are the person paying for people to click on PPC links, emails, banners and so on, get full value for your money.

A landing page is not difficult to create. It is simply a single web page or blog which belongs to you. People who click on your advertising links are sent here before they go to your affiliate product page.

The page should be setup very simply and must be quick to download. You do not need fancy graphics or big sales talk, this is personally between you and the prospective buyer. All you need to do is give him or her quality information about the affiliate product you are marketing and the benefits they will receive from buying the product.

You have to write this yourself, or have someone write it for you. It is easier if you own and use the product. You are able to add your own personal testimonial to the page and tell people how it has helped you.
Do not use the same information that the customer will find on the sales page when they click through, it will make you look lazy and disinterested in the product. So why should they then buy it?

There should only be one link on your landing page, and that is to your affiliate product. Any other links on the page are going to divert your customer elsewhere, and unless that is your main purpose of the page, you will be wasting your time and losing sales.

This brings us to the second reason for the landing page which is to get the potential customers details and build your list. To capture the email address you could have a form that they complete on the page, or you could have a pop up asking to send details. Personally I prefer the latter because it does not deviate the customer from the main pitch in the landing page, but see which method works best for you.

In exchange for their email you can can give an incentive like a free report, ebook or subscription to ezine. As long as it adds value and is within the theme of the product you are promoting, they will gladly comply.

You want to get to know your customers, otherwise they will be lost forever. If they buy the affiliate product and like it you are automatically gaining a huge amount of trust, and the next time you send an email promoting a new product they will be more responsive to purchase.

Keep you page simple but effective and get to know the passengers whose tickets you are paying. Don't get caught alone in the airport.

Happy Marketing!

Successful Affiliate Internet Marketing
05:46:40 AM - 2006-03-13

So there you are sitting in front of your monitor while the others are all watching the latest soaps. Ad's are filling your screen as you click through them one by one looking for that perfect business opportunity that is going to make you rich beyond your wildest dreams.

Each sales page promises more than the previous and it is really becoming a difficult decision as to exactly how rich you want to be. The headlines scream at you,  “Make One Million In 6 months”,  “Write Your Own Paycheck”, “The Secret Of Earning Multiple Streams Of Income” and so it goes on.

You become so exited with your new found wealth  that  you give the dog your prime fillet which you bought an hour ago, knowing that after starting up you will never be looking back while the money pours into your bank account.

If this were  true we would have a awful amount of extremely happy dogs not knowing the meaning of dog food, but  in reality affiliate marketing is not what it seems.

However that which is stated is not entirely untrue. You can achieve all or many of what is mentioned, but you are not going to do it in 15 minutes per day and on autopilot.

Now, back to reality. How do I do it?

The easiest way starting out as a internet marketer is by being an affiliate for other peoples products. The reasons are quite simple and obvious, you do not need your own website and all the technical jargon associated with it and you don't have to spend money and time creating your own product. All you need to do is drive traffic to the affiliate site, they make the sales,  you just pick up your cash.

To find products to promote as a affiliate is not difficult. There are thousands available for you to choose from. Some will charge money to join but most will be free.

As an affiliate marketer the aim is not promoting one product only, it's like putting all your eggs in one basket. Choose about 5 or even more in different areas, ones you find interesting and which you think might be good sellers.
Take your time when choosing and read through everything, remember at the end of the day it will be your money driving traffic to that site, make your money work for you.

Here are a few things you need to keep in mind when choosing your affiliate products.

Have a look at when and how they pay you your commissions.

The percentage commission they will be paying you.

Preferably choose ones that pays a high commission and pays into your account as soon as the sale is made. That will keep you from losing money from sales because in many instances you will not be able to track any sales activity.

All that said and done you are now armed to the teeth with  affiliate links, the dog is happily eating a prime fillet, so lets get on with it.

The most common way to generate traffic fast is PPC (pay per click). Google adwords is the big dog in town but there are a few others which you can easily find doing a simple search. It's quite easy to sign up and then you are ready to go.

Now the kind people from the affiliate programs you joined have possibly given you keywords that you can just copy and paste into your Google adwords. Now all you need to do is copy and paste them,  make your bid and the money will start rolling in.

Here's the bad  news, unless you are in business to lose money, this is all you will be doing and the dog will have to revert back to dog food and you to bread and water. Your advertising is going to cost  you much more than your income.

This said, you can make it as a affiliate, and you can make a lot of money, you are  however going to have to do some work.

Your main aim is to find cheap and underexposed keywords. Lets take a example of Google adwords.

If you copy and paste the keywords given to you, the chances are good that a lot of other affiliates are also using the exact same keywords.
So for you to get ad into the top 10 or first page you will need to bid high. Let's say you end up bidding 50 cents for a pretty broad keyword.
The product you are selling is selling for $47 of which you receive 50% commission,  $23.50 less banking charges.
In effect that means that for every 47 clicks you receive you must make one sale to just break even. I can tell you now on a broad keyword you will get 47 clicks but you will not get one sale.

To find out how a keyword is performing and converting into sales is to base it on 200 clicks. When reaching that target take a look at the conversion rate, how many clicks per sale. If you have made no sales, or just one, you need to refine your keywords because you are hitting the wrong target market.

Where and how do you find and implement these seemingly elusive keywords. I mean there are only so many words in the English language!

Step 1

Take a good look at the affiliates website you joined, and see what it is that makes this a unique product that customers should have. Now please this answer does not lie in the first words you read on the page, the headline or sub headline. Read through the entire affiliate sales page and find your own unique ideas, be different.

Step two

Now that you have the idea clearly in your mind, think up a few keywords that fit this idea and will relate well to the product you are trying to sell. Come up with a few single words and some two  word phrases. Write all of these down until you have about ten or fifteen.

Step Three

You have your adwords account,  open the Overture keyword tool and use both of them. You can download Good Keywords  for free and it will provide you with an enormous amount of information.

Take your single and two word phrases and combine them into three and four word phrases. Test these in your tools to see how many searches take place and test different combinations of these words until you find the right combination.

Once you have determined  good combination  keyword phrases, add them to your keyword list in your account. Chances are that you will be able to get into the top 10 easily with the lowest bid.

Target your market with specific targeted 3 and 4 word phrases, they will get you quality clicks, cheaply, with the target market generating sales.

You have heard the term find your niche over and over, but believe me if you are going to try to hit broadly you are going to lose money.

You can be a successful affiliate, but you need to put the time and effort in finding the right target audience for your product. Getting the balance right is the ultimate goal of your business.

Happy Marketing!

Hey You, Yes You!
10:07:03 AM - 2006-03-06

Click Me To See How
Click Me!

So did that grab your attention, yes of course it did.  Where you are right now call out , “hey”, and I am quite sure you will get a reaction, if there is no one around I bet you the dog will react.

So, what is the point?

If you are a internet marketer today, you need to literally shout out to your potential readers to get their attention. Your ad or email is going to be between hundreds of others, and if you are not going to say, “hey read me”, it will just end up in the trash.

By failing to do this, quite honestly, all your advertising efforts will be going down the drain, while your costs are escalating. Not the position you want to be in if you are planning to make any money.

Back to our calling exercise. As soon as  you grab the readers attention with your headline, you have to follow it up. Keeping quiet or  saying something stupid will have them gone in a flash.

When writing your headline the following is important.

Your headline must be an attention grabber. I know you have heard this a million times over, so that is why I am telling you again....and again. It is, and will always be the most important part of your ad.

Now that we have established that little point  for the umpteenth time, how in the world do you go about achieving this?

One simple way is to look at the headlines of your competitors. Look at one line ad's on web pages, headlines on sales pages, FFA pages and the emails you received.

Do this experiment with yourself, look for web pages that have one line ad's. You will find many of them around where you can place your ad for free.

As the page opens just look at the ad that grabs your attention first, and write it down. But just use the one you saw first on each page.

Do this on about twenty different pages and  you will have twenty headlines that really grabbed your attention, which in effect means that it would also grab the attention of many other people.

Now for the hard part, if you want a winning headline you are going to have to put in some work.

With these  headlines before you  write 30, yes at least 30 of your own headlines, either all your own words or combinations of the words and ideas you find in the 20 headlines. Remember, do not use a headline as is, it belongs to someone else.

Good, you have created your own 30 unique headlines, now for some fun time, call the dog show it to him, and go have a walk outside. You need this time and space  to clear your mind and take a rest.

When, done sit down and critically read every single one of your headlines and judge them against the following criteria:

*Does it say hey?
*Is it different to all the others you have read so far?
*Does it say what your product is about?
*Do you want to read on once you have read it?
*Is it exiting you?

Score each one as you read through them until you find the perfect one.  You might not find it with the first read through but keep on going. Do a little bit of tweaking here and there and you will find your winning headline.

Remember not to delete the ones you are not happy with. You are not quite finished yet.

Which brings us to the second part of the headline above, “yes you” also referred to as the sub-headline. Here you need to involve the reader personally, as if this is written for only him or her.  To achieve this you need to make a statement or pose a question that will arouse interest and keep them reading to the end of your  message.

From your list of headlines you wrote you can now choose a sub-headline that would fit neatly with your headline. Let me explain this with an example.

Headline: “The quick and easy way to create your own money generating viral products”

Sub-headline: “You can get started in as little as 5 minutes on the road to financial freedom by using this simple 10 step formula.”

I know this was a long and hard slog to get to this point, but if you put the effort in, you will be rewarded. Now the dog has been staring at you for the whole time you spent in front of the computer, give it some loving attention.

Happy writing!
Karl
