What Happen to Peace?

Peace is something that seems to allude our world. The United States is always fighting for peace, which has never made sense. How can you have peace if you are fighting?

There is one truth about peace and that is violence will never bring peace! No matter how just America thinks the fight it will never bring peace. The spiritual truth is the only thing that will defeat violence is kindness.

This truth has seemed to be to subtle for the western world. However all we have to do is to look to one shining example. That of India, when Gandhi led India out of oppression from what was one of the worlds super powers at the time, Great Britain. Gandhi and India did this with out any weapons other than the human spirit. Gandhi and India never fired one shot! The violence was overcome by peace.

The world and most of all the United States could use a lesson in peace.

What Gandhi accomplished is a great and rare thing and must be applauded. Unfortunately, the world does not respect kindness as we would ideally like to believe; It's usual to see it returned with indifference, disdain, mockery, or abuse. It's also widely perceived as a sign of weakness. Ergo, the saying "Nice guys finish last."

What the world understands, respects and responds to, is strength and power. The U.S. is a world power and must present itself as such.

I too, long for peace, as do most of us. And we have been fortunate to suffer not such ravages in our land since the 1860's, when we inflicted the atrocities of war upon our own Southern brothers and sisters.

With any war, the prayer is that the end justifies the means. Would kindness to the Turks have stopped Turkey from overtaking Cyprus and claiming it for their own? I think not. Sometimes only the power of a strategic and well-armed defense can bring about what is ultimately fair and just.~

That makes me sad. The truth will always be the only thing that can defeat violence is love. The truth will always be that violence can never defeat violence it can only bring more violence.
