2005-06-28 The World is a Place to Remember
It has been a long road this life. I find it very tiring some days to keep up the charade oh only being a physical being. The great spiritual leaders from all of the great religions where the ones the looked behind the curtain of what most think is reality to get a peek at the true reality. Many called this enlightenment some called this being reborn what ever the religion many that took that look behind the curtain said why would I want to go back and many did not. The truly great among the enlightened the truly brave were the ones the returned so that they could tell us, “You to can do as I have done”. They were the ones that asked us to look behind the curtain as they had done. In the Christian religion it is said this way. The kingdom of heaven with in. The Hindus said that we did not have to wait we could experience the gifts while here all we had to do is to meditate and we too can peek behind the curtain as they have done. Peace and Love Joe
2005-06-24 The World We Live In (not my reality)
How distracted do you find your self as you go through the day? As you brush your teeth you find your self thinking about what did not do yesterday and need to get done to day. Or about how you are going to pay the bills this next week. Then it is off to work where you spend time day dreaming about all the your hopes and dreams that have passed you by or seem so out of reach. Does this sound like you? What about all the signs the want you to consume this buy that. Every where you look someone is pulling at you to come here, try this, what about that. You can not remember the last time that you and your wife set down and just talked like friends. This is our world, a world of distractions. The art of one pointed ness, single mindedness has long since been forgotten. If you really want to enjoy the things you do and the relationships you have. You must find a way to keep your mind focused. This is the art of meditation. Through the daily practice of meditation you can begin to take back your mind. To make it focus on the things you want. So much of your suffering comes to us because we are so distracted. Begin to day to develop the art of single mindedness and take back your life. If you are interested in my form of meditation you can read the entry in my blog titled The Tools to Create the Life You Want. Peace and Love Joe
2005-06-20 A Life Lived Well is a Work of Art
If you know someone that has lived their life well you already know that life is as rare as any masterpiece. The person that understands that there is no connection between another’s anger and their own feeling, That when you are a victim of others aggression you still have a choice of how to act. This is most rare many just go around reacting to others and to situations as if it is automatic. To watch a person make clear choices about their actions and their life is a beautiful thing indeed. When a person believes that everything is connected it is hard to do things like, throw the trash out on the road, hurt another person, consume more than is needed. For them it is an act of love to live their life as if it matters. Peace and Love Joe
2005-06-12 If we are not our Ego then what are we?
I have found that many people can except with some reservations that we are not our bodies. The idea of being a spiritual being is not completely foreign to many of us. All of the major religions speak of this idea that we are more than our physical body. However when approached with the idea that not only are we not our bodies we also are not our minds (ego) many people revolt at this claim. Many say, “how can I not be my mind I thought this is who I really am, this does not leave anything.” It is at this point many people become stuck in their journey. The challenge is to meditate so that we may remember who we really are. People that have remembered, become enlightened, come back and tell us that this is true we are not our ego. We are the unchanged observer, the watcher, the self. It is our job to remind our ego that he is not in charge. Peace and Love Joe
2005-06-05 The Tools to Create the Life You Want.
I hear people say in many different ways, “I am stuck in this path, I can not change the direction of my life”. It is sad to me when I watch people continue to make the same mistakes over and over in their life. I want to say, “Do you believe that you must follow the same path every day as if you are just a turtle and not a human?” Many people have such great gifts that go sometimes forever unused. They have forgotten who they really are. People begin to believe that they are nothing more than their body, their current thoughts (addictions), and their mind. We are none of these things, we are the driver in our lives. We are the observer that has complete power and control of each day of each thought. You may ask, if that is true why do I seem to bounce from one mistake to the next. To one addiction to the next. It is simple, you have forgotten who you really are. The practice of meditation is to begin to remember and take back your life. The Hindus have known and practiced this form of remembering for over 6000 years. I will continue this discussion with directions in meditation as the days move forward. Please join me in this journey and add your thoughts and experiences to this. Peace and Love Joe
2005-06-03 Self Esteem and the True Self
As I have traveled through this life I have begun to notice that there seems to be a part of the me. Well I think it is a part of me that never changes. As I have gotten older I still at times forget that I am not an adolescent waiting for those first days of summer. When all I had to do was play ball and find some lunch. I do come around and do remember when I look down and now see my belly when I use to see my feet. The self what makes it where is it located. In the head, in the heart not sure. What I am sure it seems less worn than does the rest of me. Each day I will be talking about the self as I have experienced it. Please join me in the conversation and journey we all find our selves on. Joe
