News from NW England

The Sun is shining!

Greetings!

Well the frost arrived, and yes the ground had a nice layer of slipiness this morning.  And the sun did little to melt it.  But, it was really nice to feel the sun, albeit not very warm, on the face.

Looking out of the window across Morecambe Bay, there was a slight coating of snow on the higher fells of Lakeland such as Coniston Old Man, the Langdales, and Helvellyn.  Nice to see, but I get frustrated by not being able to do any fell walking these days.

Not good news last night on Newsnight with regard to being able to claim any extra monies for my knees, as the Govt. considers it correct to reduce benefits to ex-service personnel.  It reminds me of that poem by Kipling, "but it's tommy this, and tommy that until the drums begin to roll,"  then tommy can you go to the front and do what we want you to.  I get the strong impression that many of the troops of the USA are experiencing this also.

Hey, but then we are expendable!  It's just that a little appreciation would go a long way.

Enough ranting for today.  Hope this finds you all well and enjoying life.

Regards.
