St. Vincent
11:53:46 AM - 2006-04-13

St . Vincent is one of my favourite passengers. He always has a smile and is just a likeable person. He also is very sick and told me he really didn't have long to live.
He gets around with a walker that usually has a few beers hidden in the pockets. Don't worry he saves these for when he gets home. St Vincent was in the army and he learned to fight to kill, in his special unit. He also became a boxer. I get the feeling that St Vincent really should be in a home so he gets better care but That would be like a cage for him. I think he does quite well by himself.
Anyway, I usually drive him to St Vincent de Paul where he looks for things he can use. Than pick him up on my return trip where he shows me the deals he got. " Home St Vincent " I say..  " Yes please" he replys..I'm tired tonight.  "Take Care St Vincent  see you soon my Friend'"I say...
Funny you think your just a Bus Driver...Drive people home ..then forget about work...
No you meet so many nice people that make you smile, make you happy and also can make you sad.
I am lucky to know people like St Vincent....Thank you Lord.

The Duke of Somerset
05:58:43 PM - 2006-04-09

Driving a City Bus you meet all kinds of people good and bad. The Duke of Somerset fits the good and the bad. I have kicked him off the bus for being rowdy to other passengers and let him on when he is in a good mood.
He is a street person who has his own territory, the corner of Somerset and Elgin St in Ottawa. The Duke of Somerset once got on and asked me to lower the knelling feature on the bus because of his poor heart. As he was getting on he put his hand on his heart and said "me heart,me heart. Two passengers quickly helped him to a seat. One caring person mentioned to the Duke he shouldn't drink with such a bad heart. I am smiling to myself as I know what the Duke is doing. You see the Duke is a bit of a con and it worked as he never paid his fare. The caring customers giving him a nice seat and the Duke is in his glory knowing he didn't pay.
Well The bus stalled and wouldn't start and I couldn't move. I called control to send someone to fix the bus. I also kept on trying to get the bus going. Well the Duke became very impatient and wanted off the bus after a few choice words he stormed off the bus jumping to the ground and walking quickly away. The caring passenger went to the door and yelled to the Duke. " Be very careful as you shouldn't drink with your bad heart! "
I wanted to let the passenger know the truth but couldn't as it would have been wrong. But I knew the truth!
Another time he got on with a young friend  first asking if it was ok? He was well lubricated  at 11:00am. Are you going to be good? I replied
Yes Sir!  My dad is paying! His dad being 15 years younger then him. On his way to the back he was a charmer to all the women on the bus. Asking how they were today? and what a beautiful day it was.
All nice nothing bad.
They finally got off after saying their Goodbyes to everyone. Woo  What a relief!  A passenger asked me
why I let them on? I said he promised to be good and he was but I admit it feels great to see them get off I haven't seen him in awhile I hope he is ok?
