A Day of Reflection - Lest We Forget

A Day of Reflection - Less We Forget

It's always the same yet every year it is so different. From candlelight vigils to two minutes of silence, we remember them.

It would be great if it was remembrance of wars in a different time, but that is not the case. Here in Trenton, we are the end of the journey for fallen soldiers who travel the Highway of Tears. The name so chosen to replace our section of Highway #2.

Inside  Air Transport Command,  an Honor Guard unloads a single coffin, sometimes more ... as family gather - watchful, tearful as the body of their loved one is ceremoniously presented.

Outside the wires, a silent vigil is kept in honor of a fallen soldier no one may personally know yet it tugs their heart strings for they too have either lost or have family soldier members in a danger zones.

At exactly 11am two minutes of silence will be given in remembrance of those who gave it all so that you and I can stay free. Give it graciously.

Lest we forget ...
