Slavery Has Been Abolished, America
Much to my surprise, I have recently discovered a national holiday that I had no knowledge of.
Major Richard Wright Sr., a successful businessman and community leader in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a former slave, gathered national and local leaders together to write a bill establishing National Freedom Day on February 1; to promote harmony, good feelings, and equal opportunity among The People and to remember that our country is dedicated to the ideal of freedom.
Signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1948, the official date coincided with the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, signed by President Lincoln February 1, 1865, outlawing slavery in the United States.
If we look at slavery we see that it's a condition in which one person, known as a slave, is under the control of another and that slavery almost always occurs for the purpose of securing the labour of the slave. Involuntary servitude is a legal and constitutional term for a person laboring against that person's will to benefit another, under some form of coercion. Coercion is the practice of compelling a person to act by employing threat of harm. These things are illegal!
Now I ask you: Is your labor not secured and under the control of another? Are you not laboring under some form of coercion? Are you not threatened should you not labor for another?
Think about it, and then decide if you can honestly answer those three questions with a resounding no. Only then will we really be free.
Let us not forget that slavery has been abolished, America.

CalEPA's Smoke and Mirrors
Scientists at the California Environmental Protection Agency are now claiming that secondhand smoke causes breast cancer in younger women, though major cancer groups, including the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute, say the evidence is inconclusive.
A report from CalEPA claims that secondhand smoke in vehicles with smokers is 10 times higher than in their homes and that women under 50 exposed to secondhand smoke have a much greater risk of breast cancer than women who aren't exposed.
As a result, the Air Resources Board officially lists secondhand smoke as a "toxic air contaminant" under state law, and Californians will probably be looking at more restrictions where already they have the country's toughest anti-smoking rules.
The regulations could include reducing exposures in vehicles or in rental buildings where smoke drifts.
Yes, Californians, CalEPA, a government agency, in a desperate attempt to save your young breasts, may be regulating the air in your vehicle and your home. Not all that surprising, really, when CalEPA's Smoke and Mirrors already has the public believing it can control the air that they breathe on Earth.
What will be interesting to see is how the expected new regulations on secondhand smoke will be enforced.
Will all households of smokers occupied by younger women be marked, much like the households of the Jews during the Nazi regime? Will search warrants be issued to suspected households occupied by young women? Will landlords and renters be required to execute a "Thou shall not create secondhand smoke" form and report drifting secondhand smoke? Will neighbors, teachers, counselors, etc. be required to report suspected secondhand smoke abuse? Will law enforcement officers be required to issue secondhand smoke tickets to drivers of vehicles occupied by young women? Will bench warrants be issued and jail time given for unpaid secondhand smoke tickets?
Okay, okay, I'm being ridiculous...it need not be that complicated. CalEPA could always just borrow the NSA warrantless surveillance program and proceed from there. Problem solved.

Feds Want Googled Info
With 200 million searches per day, webmasters who want to increase traffic to their sites, can't avoid seeking Google's approval. Google enjoys a 75 percent monopoly for referrals to websites.
If you look at U.S. copyright laws to the Internet (PDF file), Google's cache copy seems to be illegal. The only way a webmaster can avoid having his site cached on Google is to put a "noarchive" meta in the header of every page on his site. Many webmasters have deleted material from their sites, to find out later that the pages still live in Google's cache.
When you do a search, Google records the cookie ID, your Internet IP address, the time and date, your search terms, and your browser configuration. Google customizes results based on your IP number. If you have the toolbar installed, Google basically has complete access to your hard disk every time you connect to Google.
The Bush administration has asked a federal judge to order Google to turn over this material from its databases. They claim this is part of a government effort to protect children on the Internet, by determining how often pornography shows up in online searches.
Google has refused to comply with a Justice Department subpoena and opposes releasing the information, saying it would violate the privacy rights of its users and the associate general counsel for Google, Nicole Wong, says the company will fight the government's effort "vigorously."
The government doesn't even claim that it's for national security, they just want to use it to get the search engines to do their research for them. The government indicates that other search engines have agreed to release the information, but not Google.
Whether you agree with Google's cache copy being illegal or not, Google appears to be resisting the intimidation imposed by "Big Brother" in lieu of users' privacy rights. Let us just pray that Google is not invading the same privacy they are claiming to protect.

"America ... from Freedom to Fascism"
Aaron Russo is an accomplished Hollywood producer and director. His films include "Trading Places", starring Eddie Murphy and "The Rose", starring Bette Midler, and have received six academy award nominations. He's won both an Emmy Award and Tony Award and his films have also won a number of Golden Globe awards.
Mr. Russo has been extremely outspoken in his opposition to out-of-control government.
As present government seeks to ignore or push aside our Founding Documents, government can lock you up without trial, spy on you, take your guns, monitor the sites you visit on the Internet, and refuse to answer a redress of grievances, Russo's definition of an American patriot is someone who "stands up for the Constitution and Bill of Rights." He stresses the urgency of repealing the Patriot Act.
Russo has just completed a feature film about the IRS, the Federal Reserve and the New World Order - "America ... from Freedom to Fascism," and is entering the film in the May 2006 Cannes Film Festival. The 95-minute film will be shown in advance of its formal release at the Tucson WTP Foundation meeting on Saturday, January 28th. The meeting is free and open to the public.

"My principles are freedom for all people... I'm trying to wake up Hollywood. It's been a bastion of freedom but they're being deceived, suckered into this indoctrination of the federal government which is leading toward a totalitarian country. They've lost sight of individual liberty." -- Aaron Russo

A Beast or a Saint?
Monday January 16, 2006, federal offices, schools, post offices, and banks all over America will close as we celebrate the newest American national holiday, Martin Luther King Day.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr is most often portrayed as a dominant force in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's. The words of Dr. King have been immortalized as the legacy of a man who brought hope and healing to America. His speech "I Have a Dream" may be the most widely recognized in modern American history.
He has been commemorated and celebrated for the values he taught through example - the values of courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service that had defined Dr. King’s character and empowered his leadership. On this holiday, in the words of Coretta Scott King, we commemorate the universal, unconditional love, forgiveness and nonviolence that empowered his revolutionary spirit.
Imagine my surprise, and maybe yours as well, to read of a different side to this famed hero; a MUCH different side. Read "The Truth About "Martin Luther King, Jr" by Kevin Alfred Strom and you decide: A Beast or a Saint?

We will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

Hiring the Older and Gentler Gender
A growing number of American women in their 60s and older are extending their careers past normal retirement age. Twelve percent of women over 65 are in the workforce, the highest on record.
Some retire and then return to work, others simply stay on. Whatever their reasons for working, (choice or necessity) they are proving that they're highly committed and skilled employees.
Age discrimination is a challenge. Many had interrupted their careers to raise families. They're not likely to have a pension and adequate savings. They usually live longer than their men and may be single or widowed. They rely on their earnings and investments to support themselves in retirement and Social Security is not enough to cover their needs.
Just getting hired can be a challenge; older women don't always see the value of their experience & skills and there's a common business perception that workers over 50 cost more than younger workers. However, a new study by AARP shows that older employees' skills and productivity make them much more cost-effective than employers may think.
And according to the Center on Aging and Work, even though men hold more privileged jobs, older women tend to be more committed, more loyal, and willing to go the extra mile.
Employers, if you are passing over women in their 50s and 60s who might be interested in new jobs or in changing careers, you may be passing up a committed, experienced, and skilled employee.
And that applicant could be your mom.

2006: The Pivotal Year for We the People
The Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, as established by our Founding Fathers, represent limited servant government based on the principles of individual liberty, equal justice and respect for private property.
A large part of Americans have scorned our heritage of faith and freedom, believing these principles are not relevant anymore. We've come to the time where the want for wealth and power is not restricted by the rule of law; where society rejects any standard of morality and decency; where government, academia and commerce are populated by the arrogant, dishonest and morally corrupt.
How much longer do we risk the total destruction of the principles of popular sovereignty, separation of powers, and government accountability, as we stand by, consumed by daily activities and distractions?
When will it be time to make this a priority by taking a personal stand, by making a personal commitment?
We The People Foundation resoundingly answers.
