Maintenance Tidbit:
Do you actually know what's running on your PC?
Does you PC seem likes its running slower than a snail when you clobber the Enter key?  If so, take a look down at all the icons in the right-hand portion of your taskbar.

Most of us have our favorite little programs/utilities that we have loaded every time our PC starts up.  They are commonly called TSRs or Terminal and Stay Resident programs.

They run "ever so often" to perform something for you - just like clockwork without any manual intervention from you - convenience as its finest!  However that is where the dangers lurk taking up valuable CPU cycles AND memory.

How can you tell...
Just fire up your fine friend - Task Manager.  On a Windows XP machine, pressing "Cntl + Alt + Delete" keys at the same time will display your task manager.  Just press those keys down one time because if you repeat that keystroke sequence too quickly, you will reboot your machine and stand a great chance of losing important business data.

The main windows you should check are Applications, Processes and Performance.

Applications shows you just exactly that - what applications are executing on your PC and the icon/name for each should be showing in the center portion of your taskbar.

Processes is a bit more complicated as the process name is normally different than the application name but you can click 2-times on the CPU heading to sort the processes by the amount of CPU they are using at that moment (from the most to least amount of CPU).

The Performance window will show graphical images of the CPU and Memory Usage along with CPU and Memory Usage History.  That same window will show you how your physical and kernel memory are being used along with System handles, threads, processes, up-time and page file usage.

At the bottom of each window, the number of Processes, CPU Usage (percentage) and Physical Memory used at that time and is real-time updated every second or so.

So beware of the amount of CPU your Windows Task Manager itself uses!  Combine the usage of TSRs and Windows Task Manager will use a large percentage of your CPU and physical memory.

Recommendation:
If you don't use a TSR program that often, don't have it started up each time your computer is started - save that memory and CPU for what you want your PC to do for you!

GOFER's Rant - Tame That Monster!
Last time, we should have hit a raw nerve with our comments about what's next after trust.  You can review it right here to catch up with where we're going next.

Ok, now that you have reviewed the last rant, let's take up your silly reasons for not taming that monster you use so many times a day but fear like it contains anthrax or something similar?

That simple little device - your telephone!  Learn to use it to contact your team members.  Be a good listener AND take notes about your conversations with them.  Those little tidbits of info will pay off in spades (money) later as you get your team to trust you more and more...there we go back to that trust issue again!

What are your excuses...
I don't know what to say or other excuses - they are not reasons.  How do we know that?  Its rather simple actually...we've been there, done that with all the same excuses, fears and knee-knocking terror you are facing right now.

Its so easy to get a conversation going with someone.  You were born with twice as many ears as you have only one tongue!  Maybe there's a master plan as to why?

Only thing you have to do is think positive.  Remember this is YOUR business you are trying to build on the internet, so treat it like a business!  Be proud of what you are doing!  If not, delete all your accounts within your online business endeavors and go watch TV 'cause you'll never make it online.

Sure there are people who try to fill you full of crap about how they never talk with anyone and are making tons of money on the Net.  Beware, these are the wolves in sheep's clothing!

Featured Article:  Backing Up Your Business Data
In our previous issue, we showed you more of the exact coding for your cleanxp.bat file including Cleanmgr and its wierdly-named options sageset and sagerun as shown below:

echo "running clean mgr"
@echo off
::
cleanmgr /sagerun:99
:: The above line assumes you've previously run a "cleanmgr /sageset:99" command.

Refer to our last issue if you need to review this coding.

Now let's get on with the important task of creating your business data backups!  First of all, you need to decide exactly which folders you want to have backed up - stop and think about this very carefully - taking a few minutes here to determine just where your business data and other important files are located.  This can save you much heartache later.

This first part of the coding for your business data backup may look a bit strange but you only need to backup any data that has changed once you have an initial backup which we schedule on the 1st day of every month.  BTW, you can start executing this script on any day of the month.  All the data in the folders you specify will be backed up with an incremental code portion executing (its backed up nothing - so it will backup every file in the folder(s) specified.  Anyway, that's the purpose of the coding to check what day of the month it is.

Here's the code for determining the day of the month:
::
:: get day of month - see which backup to run (incremental or full)
::
for /F "tokens=1-4 delims=/ " %%i in ('date /t') do (
set DayOfWeek=%%i
set Month=%%j
set Day=%%k
set Year=%%l
set Date=%%i %%k/%%j/%%l
)
echo %Day%
::

If you would like a technical explanation of the above coding, here's our contact info.  We will send you the explanation.  The important thing is it always knows and displays the day of the month as 2-numbers such as 01 for 1st day of the month or 29 for the 29th day of the month.

NOTE:
You will be using the month, year and date parms specified above.  You could insert the following command to display Date:

echo %Date%

If it was 11/29/2007, it would display:

Thu 29/11/2007

Bear with us for further explanation.

Next we see if the value returned by %Day% is equal to 01 and branch to the appropriate set of instructions based on that comparison.

if %Day%==01 goto bizfbkup
@echo off
::

If it is the 1st day of the month, we branch to the set of backup instructions called bizfbkup (for full backup) otherwise we go to the next set of instructions to only backup files that have changed since the last backup was created - ntbackup is that powerful!

::Incremental backup - every day except 1st day of month
::
:bdlybkup
echo "doing biz daily incremental backup"
@echo off
::
:: must execute ntbackup to create backup set; the string
:: below is copied from the backup set (homebiz_bkup.bks)
::
C:WINDOWSsystem32 tbackup.exe backup "@C:Documents and SettingsUserLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWindows NTNTBackupdatahomebiz_bkup.bks" /a /d "Set created 9/10/2005 at 8:37 PM" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:off /m incremental /j "homebiz_bkup" /l:s /f "F:BackupsHomeBizhomebiz_bkup.bkf"
::
echo "daily biz backup saved as F:BackupsHomeBizhomebiz_bkup.bkf"
@echo off
goto bizend
::

We'll explain more about the above coding in the next issue.

NOTE:
We have taken what Fred Langa offered a few years ago and made multiple modifications based on our experiences of doing full/incremental backups along with restores of complete partitions and or single/multiple files.  This backup and restore script will work for your Windows XP PC once you have changed the backup drive designation and the folder names to the folders you want to backup.

Essential information about ntbackup.exe can be found by going to microsoft.com and doing a search for ntbackup.

%%%%%-----$$$$$-----%%%%%-----$$$$$-----%%%%%

Next Time:
Stay tuned for the next issue... we will show you how to easily create the backup set with ntbackup.exe - file name will end with .bks suffix.  Then the above coding will make a lot more sense! Then its just a matter of cut & paste!

GOFER's Rant - After Trust - What's Next?
Last time, we think we should have hit home with the trust issue.  If not, you can read it right here.

Ok, we are starting to build some trust with your team members in your downline of your favorite program.  Both of you know what is expected for success with that program and its working so far; starting to yield your team the desired results...

Now - what's next?

This is the point where most people start getting greedy and thinking they are capable of doing anything with nothing!  Last time we checked our math, nothing plus nothing is still nothing!

Avoid the temptation of not following downline integrity...as you probably know much discussion has taken place regarding this issue for several weeks recently.

We proudly support downline integrity and the Downline Integrity Brigade.  We will be getting with you shortly with the complete list of DLIB member traffic exchanges.  Go support them with your surfing efforts.

Hint:
We will have a nice splash page for you in the very near future promoting this very important and honest way of multi-level marketing!

Its your choice but don't try to straddle the fence, you know what will get hurt!

Many thanks to Jon Olson at Hit Exchange News for publishing Rob Gehring's response regarding downline integrity.  All should be educated now and ready to show their true color - no matter where it might lead you!  Above all - be honest with yourself and just do something for a change!

$$$$$-----%%%%%-----$$$$$-----%%%%%-----$$$$$-----%%%%%-----$$$$$-----

Featured Article:  Cleanmgr - Sageset & Sagerun
In our last issue, we showed you more of the exact coding for your cleanxp.bat file.

Here's a piece of that code to delete all prefetch files from your Windows folder (without the comments):

cd "C:\windows\prefetch"
del /q /s /f *.pf

Refer to our last issue if you need to review this coding.

Now, what the heck is cleanmgr, sageset and sagerun?  Cleanmgr is an automated way of executing Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows XP.  Cleanmgr has two primary commands: sageset and sagerun.

The nice thing about sageset you only have to execute it one time to setup its action items until you need to make some changes, additions or deletions of cleanmgr options.

The format of this command is:
    cleanmgr /sageset:n where n is a number from 0 to 65535.

Then to execute, the format of the sagerun command is:
cleanmgr /sagerun:n where n is the number you specified with the sageset command       previously executed; example: we use 99 for the value of n as shown in the format above.  So we use cleanmgr /segeset:99 to setup our options for disk cleanup; then in our cleanxp.bat file we execute early every morning, we use cleanmgr /sagerun:99

Depending on the amount of data disk cleanup deletes, the first time you run your cleanxp.bat batch job, it could run for several minutes and in some cases up to 30 minutes.

Below we wanted to show you the many options for the files that you can specify for Disk Cleanup by using /sageset and /sagerun including:

Temporary Setup Files - These are files that were created by a Setup program that is no longer running.
Temporary Internet Files - The Temporary Internet Files folder contains Web pages that are stored on your hard disk for quick viewing. Disk Cleanup removes these page but leaves your personalized settings for Web pages intact. This option also includes a View Files button, which opens the C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 folder.
Old Chkdsk Files - When Chkdsk checks a disk for errors, Chkdsk might save lost file fragments as files in the root folder on the disk. These files are unnecessary.
Recycle Bin - The Recycle Bin contains files that you have deleted from the computer. These files are not permanently removed until you empty the Recycle Bin. This option includes a View Files button that opens the Recycle Bin.
Temporary Files - Programs sometimes store temporary information in a Temp folder. Before a program quits, the program usually deletes this information. You can safely delete temporary files that have not been modified within the last week.
Temporary Offline Files - Temporary offline files are local copies of recently used network files. These files are automatically cached so that you can use them after you disconnect from the network. A View Files button opens the Offline Files folder.
Offline Files - Offline files are local copies of network files that you specifically want to have available offline so that you can use them after you disconnect from the network. A View Files button opens the Offline Files folder.
Compress Old Files - Windows can compress files that you have not used recently. Compressing files saves disk space, but you can still use the files. No files are deleted. Because files are compressed at different rates, the displayed amount of disk space that you will gain is approximate. An Options button permits you to specify the number of days to wait before Disk Cleanup compresses an unused file.
Catalog Files for the Content Indexer - The Indexing service speeds up and improves file searches by maintaining an index of the files that are on the disk. These Catalog files remain from a previous indexing operation and can be deleted safely.

NOTE:
If you specify cleaning up the drive that contains the Windows installation, all of these options are available on the Disk Cleanup tab. If you specify any other drive, only the Recycle Bin and the Catalog files for content index options are available on the Disk Cleanup tab.

The More Options tab contains options for cleaning up Windows components or installed programs.

The Windows Components option creates free space by removing optional Windows components that you do not use. Clicking Clean Up starts the Windows Components Wizard.
The Installed Programs option frees more disk space by removing programs that you do not use. Clicking Clean Up starts the Change or Remove Programs option in the Add/Remove Programs tool.
CAUTION:
Be careful when specifying this option as it is NOT automated and you can delete some program you really didn't want to get rid of!

The only options we use on the sageset command are shown above in the same color as the text in this sentence.

%%%%%-----$$$$$-----%%%%%-----$$$$$-----%%%%%-----$$$$$-----%%%%%

Next Time:
Stay tuned for the next issue... we will show you how to easily backup data files which
are so critical to your business along with the other important data you may have in your "My Documents" folder.  Protect yourself!  We forgot about the cleanmgr command we have in our cleanxp batch job or we would have covered data file backups this issue.

Maintenance Tidbit:
Last time, we mentioned using Windows Explorer and doing a search on your
computer for "*.tmp" files.  If this is the first time you have ran this, bet you
had a huge list of files and some were actually several meg in size!  Our featured
article will continue to add more directories and files for your cleanxp batch
job along with some explanations as needed.

NOTE:
If you have some information to share or questions regarding our "Maintenance
Tidbit", please contact us right away!  We will gladly spend additional time
explaining something of interest and may even post your comments right here in
our "Team Blog" with a link back to one of your web pages.

This issue our tidbit will save you hours of frustration and heartache as you get back
to the basics regarding cables and connectors attached to your computer.  The best
way to explain this is by example yours truly went through just last week.  The
scenario goes like this:

All of sudden after a daily reboot of one of our computers, the first thing we noticed
was there was no networks or connections showing in our Network folder!  The
first thought was that a virus had struck and wiped out our entries.  So we did a
complete virus scan again and found nothing more than some tracking cookies
which were no real threat.  Next we checked our Windows Update history just to
make sure of what had been installed during the reboot process.  It showed an
update to our video and network controller program; so we thought that was the
issue.  We backed out the changes thanks to a good restore point being created
before the updates were applied.

Still had the problem...next we thought we should make sure we had the latest driver
updates from the vendor.  Using another computer, we downloaded those files and
copied to a shared external drive.  Using the "no network" computer, we updated its
video and network drivers and rebooted again (probably for the what seemed like the
200th time)!  Still no network connections showing and no connection even to our
router???  After verifying the drivers were installed correctly and still no network
connections, we thoughts what the heck, lets make sure all the connections and cables
were OK.  We checked all those and they all were tight and nothing loose anywhere.

Then a "lightbulb" moment came over me.  Why not try using the cable from the
router to the other computer on this computer and seeing if it will work?  Sure enough,
the switch was made and after another reboot, wallah - we had a connection to our
router and to the outside world!

Just goes to show you, don't always expect the worse, just make it a habit to check
your cables monthly visually making sure they look OK and are securely plugged in
where they're supposed to be!  Also, if a problem arises, follow the same principle,
look for the simple stuff first before thinking the worst!  It will save you untold amounts
of frustration and time.

GOFER's Rant - Why No Trust?
WOW - make sure you have read our last rant - it should have hit home right in the
gut like a ton of bricks!

Trust - such a powerful word!  According to Dictionary.com one of the meanings of
trust is:

to rely upon or place confidence in someone.

That's a pretty bold statement in itself!  But have you lost trust in everything related
to online business?  Here's how you take care of that issue...

If someone has been communicating with you and showing you results of what they
are accomplishing, why are you such a doubter?  You have got to communicate with
each other and in doing so, you build that trust.  That is what online business is all
about for us - relationship building.

So get off your butt and start building relationships and be honest with people!  That's
what you would like in return - correct?  So just go do it right now!!!

$$$$$-----%%%%%-----$$$$$-----%%%%%-----$$$$$-----%%%%%-----$$$$$-----

Featured Article:  Getting Rid of Junk and Temporary Files
In our last issue, we started showing you the exact coding for your cleanxp.bat file.
Here's a piece of that code to delete all temp files from your Local Settings\Temp
folder (without the comments):
cd "C:Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temp"
del /p /s /f *.*

Refer to our last issue if you need to review this coding.
By the way...we left out the back slashes ("\") in that last issue - sorry!

Another folder where lots of temp files with a different suffix or extension is located is
your Windows\prefetch folder.  Here's the coding and comments to delete those pesky
little worthless files.  Notice the suffix is ".pf" :

:: change to next folder where you want to delete files
cd "C:\windows\prefetch"
::
del /q /s /f *.pf
::
:: For each additional folder/directory you wish to clean out, repeat the above pattern:
:: Add a CD "FULL PATH TO FOLDER WITH FILES TO DELETE" followed by the
:: DEL command (as shown above).

That's all there is to getting rid of trash and temporary files you don't need cluttering up
your hard drive nor affecting your computer performance!

Once you read and understand what's happening, it becomes such a simple process
AND make it a habit!

Maintenance Tidbit:
Last time, we mentioned the fact you needed to backup and defrag your registry
entries because they are just as important as data backups.  Hopefully you did
some investigation with your favorite search engines and found a product that
will work for you and your computer.

NOTE:
If you have some information to share or questions regarding our "Maintenance
Tidbit", please contact us right away!  We will gladly spend additional time
explaining something of interest and may even post your comments right here in
our "Team Blog" with a link back to one of your web pages.

Ever Wonder Where and How Many Temporary Files You Have?
Use Windows Explorer and do a search on your computer for "*.tmp" without
the quotes. We believe you will be surprised as the massive number of files
you find and the many directories they are contained within!

Just yesterday after running cleanxp the night before on one of our computers
we discovered 91 .tmp files had been created within 5 different directories in
just under 7 hours!  If we have been doing some heavy-duty surfing, CCleaner
will easily get rid of 80-90Meg of junk files.

CCleaner ( mentioned is an earlier blog posting ) does a great job of getting rid
of a great number of .tmp files but there are several other suffixes Windows
uses when creating temporary files such as *.pf*.  We use that format with
multiple wildcards to make sure we delete all the different varieties of Windows
"prefetch" files.

The batch file we have been talking about in our Featured Article has sample
entries there to delete all the *.tmp files from a single directory; naturally you

GOFER's Rant - I'm Not Gonna Do It All For Ya!
We can't tell you the number of times we have been contacted by a new downline
member expecting us to do their setup work for them!

If you are in any of our downlines, you better get those words flushed from your
vocabulary! We didn't take you to raise much less do all the
work for you.

If you don't possess any more self-reliance and respect for other people than that, don't
let the door hit ya where the dog should have bit ya!

On the other hand...if you have done some research about a particular subject such as
how to create a campaign in a traffic exchange and still don't understand some portion
of that and need help, we'll be right here as that's what a team leader is supposed to do -
help others on the team so all become more productive.

But if you don't have the time or didn't take the time to research what you need to do...
maybe haven't even read the instructions we provided to you, then you are not being a
functional and productive team member.

we will help anyone who shows some enthusiasm and initiative to learn new things and
put them into practice. We call that teamwork and team support which we will gladly do.

So as we've just got through reading an email from a new downline member wanting us
to do their setup work within a particular program since they don't have time to do that,
yes we are steamed and just about to reach the boiling point!

This individual hasn't even opened much less responded to our welcome email nor any
of the program setup info we've sent them, so since you know who you are, you better
grab ahold of your shoulders and pull REAL hard! That way just maybe some daylight
might reach your brain cavity!

Mr/Ms new person, read and investigate what we've said in the emails we've sent you!
They all contain information to help you become productive with that program. You just
gotta get off your butt and do some work! If that's too much work for you, we suggest
you delete your account in that program and get off the internet, you're too stupid to be
here!

Featured Article:  Getting Rid of Junk and Temporary Files
Hopefully in our last issue, you took advantage of the download link provided for Fred
Langa's cleanup/backup script.

If you missed it for some reason, click here to download it right now before you proceed
any further.

From now on, we are talking about getting rid of junk/temp files and creating a backup
of your important data on a Windows XP computer. The download talks about machines
using operating systems older than XP, so yes, you gotta do some additional reading and
investigative work yourself.

Let's look at the sample code to get rid of any temporary files (*.tmp) in a specific
directory. Your computer should have this folder and be using it if you are using a
Windows XP computer.

By the way, even someone like ourselves who have been running this script for several
years can learn a new location now and then where a temp file is being saved.

Normally a temp file is just that and the majority of them are not intended to be kept
and updated forever - they are just taking up space you can use for worthwhile business
data.

Here's the sample code to delete temp files as described and shown in the cleanxp.bat
file included in the zipped file you downloaded earlier:

:: the 2 colons column 1 & 2 of a line indicates this line is a comment
:: next lines switch to C: drive, change to first folder where you want
:: to delete files
cd "C:Documents and Settings[username]Local SettingsTemp"
:: edit the line above with the correct path and name of the first
:: directory/folder you want to clean out ([username] matches the
:: username you use when you log onto your computer - there can be
:: several users names defined depending on how many people use your
:: computer)!
::
:: XP/2k ONLY:
:: if you're using WinXP/2K, REMOVE the two colons from the front of
:: the "del /p /s /f *.*" line below
:: del /p /s /f *.*
:: After you run CleanXP and are sure that you're deleting the correct
:: files, you can change the /p to /q for faster, no-prompt deletions

You will need to read through the above code and make sure you understand what it
is going to delete for you. Bottom line, anything that is saved in your
"Local SettingsTemp" directory is NOT needed to do any work you need - its just
Windows' method of storing little (and sometimes not so little) pieces of data it needs.
That is why you see "*.*' (without the quotes) following the /f in the delete line above
(del /p /s /f *.*) *.* means delete ALL files you find in the Temp directory. Follow
the instructions given within the script code to make it execute faster (no prompts to
delete each file)!

If you want to know exactly what each of the parms following the "/" does in that
delete command line, you can find the location of that information in the readme.txt
file included in the zipped file you downloaded earlier.

Hang on! We've just begun...

Maintenance Tidbit:
Last time, we mentioned using CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com) and how it gets
rid of so much trash and "junk" files from your computer.  We sure hope you
gave serious consideration to the use of this free tool!  Now we got rid of the
trash and junk files, so lets look at another item you should be running on a
regular basis.

Ever Wondered How Many Entries your Windows Registry contains?
If you haven't thought about it, this is THE configuration file Windows uses to
know exactly how you wish for certain programs and utilities to behave.  We
are running Windows Vista on one of our computers and it contains over 900,000
entries.  Wonder what would happen to your PC if the Registry became corrupt
or somebody hacked their way into it?

We think it would be of the up most importance ranking right up there with data
backups!  If you ever find yourself in that position, you better hope a System
Restore Point has been made just before you noticed the problems beginning.
So you do have a Registry backup, don't you?

Yes that was no typographical error - a registry backup!  Do a a search via
your favorite search engine for "registry backup" and see just how many entries
and documented horror stories you find!  Yes there is free as well as commercial
products to manage your registry file and all those entries,  FYI, we use a
commercial product called Registry Clean Expert.  Believe it cost about $30 when
we made our purchase.

It creates backups and has a wonderful algorithm to check all your registry entries
to make sure they are valid,  We do a registry backup with that tool about once a week
and do the check for errors at the same time.

Nice thing about it, you can also defrag your registry!  Yes defrag your registry.  Just
like your temporary and junk files collect up really fast when you are surfing, the same
things happen with your registry when you install/uninstall products.

So just make sure you do something about creating a good backup copy of your Registry
and do so on a regular basis!  The defrag of your hard drives and registry will sure make
a difference is just how fast your PC operates!

GOFER's Rant - Wow - Downline Integrity - What A Hot Button!
That thread has since been moved to the owners section of The Members
Forum so most of us are unable to view or make comments now.  But it
became the most active thread ever at The Members Forum about this time
last week!  So guess it has been a spark for debate that spilled over into the
first part of this week.

As we stated last week, it comes down to this:
Either you think you have the right to just promote any link to the entire
membership with the owner being the sole beneficiary (you should in your
TOS at least tell members that is your business model) or you believe in
downline integrity where you promote your link to your front-line team
members who in turn do the same until the entire membership base has
been reached.

We're sure nothing got resolved between traffic exchange owners but at
least an exchange of ideas and philosophies were undertaken at the SEO-
Squid Conference last Thursday evening.

But enuf has been said and the bottom line almost everyone agreed upon
was the fact you cannot profess to believe in downline integrity and start
working with another traffic exchange which clearly states any Moneylegs
Credit Bank member traffic exchanges must follow downline integrity.

Unfortunately we had one young traffic exchange owner who thought that
did not apply to him and he could send out emails to entire membership
asking them to join some program under his ID.  Well, the young man soon
found out that was not to be the case as Rob Gehring informed him of the
fact his traffic exchange had been removed from the Moneylegs Credit
Bank and the SEO-Squid Downline Builder for violating the TOS (terms
of service) as specified for inclusion within those two programs.

We know the issue is far from dead but Mr./Ms. Traffic Exchange owner,
don't try to circumvent the TOS of ANY program.  Congratulations and
kudos abound for Rob Gehring for taking a tough stand on the principles
of how the entire GJW Family of Programs was built and still continue to
operate today!

Yes, personally we dropped about 3 programs from our list we promoted and
surfed since this major difference of opinion started.  We take a firm stand for
our principles as well - as some TE owners have already discovered, we have
deleted our account at more than one place and won't hesitate to doing it again!

Yes, all program owners should do a better job of explaining exactly what they
are going to do and what they expect of members and/or partners.

Which brings us to our final points of this rant:

  • We all should do a better job of adhering to TOS in all programs.
  • Does the TOS on your site adequately reflect what you expect of members
and what they can expect from you as owner?
  • Communication is a wonderful tool - especially when it's 2-way communication.

Featured Article:  Data Backups - How Good Are Yours?
If you are doing business online, your data backups are the most important items
you possess. Without a good backup, its like driving on a freeway in New York
City blindfolded!  What a scary thought!  You wouldn't do that would you?

If you are running a Windows XP machine, you have the best backup software
called ntbackup. Yes we did say XP.  Vista sure doesn't have near the flexibility
of XP as its backup software is nothing more than a cruel joke!  Since we believe
the majority of people are running XP (based on domain stats from several
different sites), most of you have it made with dang near all the flexibility you
could ask for with backup software.

Our good friend, Fred Langa created a backup script or batch file (.bat extension)
which has the upmost user-friendly and balanced plan we have seen on the Net
today.  The nice feature of his script is it is available for your use without any
charge whatsoever!  We will include a download link for you to obtain that script
at the end of this article.

Yes, it will take some reading of several articles within the zip file you will soon
be downloading. The education about setting the script up right the first time is
included - ya just gotta be able to follow instructions. Duh!

Here's the download link.  If you run into any problems, please let us know.

Maintenance Tidbit:
Since you use your computer for business purposes and probably do a lot of
surfing, your computer will probably slow down to a point it will no longer
perform like you desire.   The best way to keep your PC is peak operating
condition is to make sure you get rid of temporary files and other "trash" your
computer collects.

First let's get rid of all that trash!
How do you do this?  We strongly urge you to obtain a free copy of CCleaner
(no affiliate program or benefit to us) and run it several times a day.  You will be
surprised the number of temporary files you get rid of especially after an hour's
surfing!  We have ran CCleaner right before we started surfing to make sure
everything was clean and ran it again after we finished surfing and gotten rid of
90-100 meg. of trash our PC was trying to keep track of!  So get CCleaner
and use it multiple times a day to help your Pc run more efficiently.

GOFER's Rant - Downline Integrity - Reality or Joke?
Sorry if you didn't get to read the many posts made in The Members
Forum earlier this week about this subject.  It all started as a normal
forum post by  Sean Supplee of VisitManiac asking "You have a downline
builder right?"

However the viewpoints differed as much as daylight and dark and some
posts were just downright silly!  Being a member of the GJW Family of
Programs
, I was not going to sit idly by and not let the forum know how
I feel as well!

It all comes down to this:
Either you think you have the right to just promote any link to the entire
membership with the owner being the sole beneficiary (at least tell members
that is your business model) or you believe in downline integrity where you
promote your link to your front-line team members and then they in turn do
the same until the entire membership base has been reached.

How can you maintain any downline integrity when you as the owner are
constantly promoting YOUR links to the entire membership yet want you
to only converse with your downline members?

True any traffic exchange or downline builder owner has the right to do as
they see fit BUT...

Don't profess to believe in downline integrity and the principles followed by
GJW and we ourselves believe in; then expect to be able to promote something
new to the entire membership base when you feel like it.

This led to several programs being removed from SEO-Squid Downline Builder
and the Moneylegs Credit Bank by Rob Gehring - and with good cause!

I was so glad to see Rob personally standup to those who violated the TOS of
the aforementioned programs.  Rob did the right thing because downline integrity is what
he has always professed to be one of GJW's guiding principles AND let the world
know about it in a forum posting that definitely stirred up emotions of every kind.

How do you think programs become successful?  Unless I'm totally off my rocker
here, it takes people aka members to make any membership-based organization a
success.  So why rape and pillage your members while you profess to support downline
integrity and take actions so contrary to that belief?  Sean - shame on you - we only hope
you learned your lesson - you can't profess to serve only chocolate ice cream and then
serve vanilla ice cream instead!

VIRUS/SPYWARE ADVICE:
If you use your computer on a regular basis, make sure you are
doing a virus AND spyware scan at least once a week - at a
minimum!  If you are a daily surfer of traffic exchanges, we believe
you should scan your computer EVERY day! It can sure save
you lots of problems or even worse - a complete restore of your
computer!  That's no fun!  There are several options available on
the Internet today; some free and others with a cost involved.
Whatever option you choose, make sure you keep the definitions
updated.  Schedule most scans to run during a time your computer
is not in use and let them run.  Its so simple to just start your scans
when you get ready to go to bed for the night and let the software
do its job.

GOFER's Rant - Pro Traffic Exchanges & Your Business
Why not you? Or stated in another manner - why should you put
out the bucks to upgrade in a traffic exchange? The majority of
members just do not see the need to upgrade in any traffic exchange.

Why is this trend so prevalent? There is probably thousands of
reasons and millions of excuses. Are you afraid of success? Think
you will be wasting your money? WIIFM - What's In It For Me?

Some people in the world truly cannot afford to upgrade as they are
very poor; so they must use every free means at their disposal to
generate traffic to their website or earn money by viewing other
people's sites.

But for others...

FEAR - we believe that is the biggest reason. Probably fear of
commitment or I'm never going to make any money with that traffic
exchange - the fear of success. What a nasty 4-letter word!

Don't let fear hold you back. Take the upgrade process one step at
a time until you have made redeemable commissions you can use to
upgrade in other pro traffic exchanges. Yes, you have to promote
the reasons why people should upgrade.  You are promoting your
own web pages, aren't you?  Tell people WIIFM!

Let go of your fear - we can show you exactly how, where and why to
promote the pro traffic exchanges. Then you can earn AND receive
commissions quickly...repeat this process with the cash you've

So step out of your cozy little corner of the world (your comfort

System and Data File Backups?
Has your computer ever got to where you couldn't do anything?
Its a scary situation and the mind does great tricks on you; then
the horror and terror starts to sink in! Never fear, you do have a
backup - don't you?

We've all been there at one time or another. We just experienced a
problem such as that this past Thursday. My computer was running so
slow it wouldn't even come up correctly! So after several
unsuccessful attempts to get the computer to completely initialize,
we took a drastic step. We took a deep breath; said a few prayers;
and did a startup using Safe Mode hoping it would be successful.
Thankfully the system came up OK. Next we did something I'd never
done before except in a test mode: a registry restore from a good
backup.

How did we do that?
With all the hackers and scammers out there today preying on people,
we learned a couple of years ago to have a backup copy of our
computer's registry. We currently use a commercial package and are
not going to mention the name here - just do a Google search for
"registry backup software". There are freeware versions as well.

Remember your registry backup is only good for your current computer
configuration or a previous configuration if you just installed some
new software or hardware to your computer.

REMEMBER:

If you are going to install or delete software or add/remove hardware,
first you should create another registry backup as well.

TIP:
Invest in an external hard drive - they are getting more inexpensive
every week. BUT...do NOT leave it connected to your computer all
the time. Why - a hacker can reach that hard drive just as easy as
they can reach your main hard drive! Keep it disconnected until you
are ready to run backups.

Then set your firewall software to allow no Internet/outside
activity - period - not even programs you have authorized to
communicate with the outside world! Now connect that external hard
drive to your computer - normally through a USB cable and run your
backups - registry and your data files.

When the backups are completed...we run ours during the early
morning hours while we're sleeping...then disconnect your external
hard drive and unlock your firewall to allow communication with the
outside world.

Presto! You have good backups of your registry and your data files
hackers cannot reach. Now that is what we call safety!

If you desire to know the registry backup tool we are using, please

This Week's Lesson:
Review the backup procedures you employ to make sure you are
protecting your valuable business data and your computer.

That might be just a simple statement but the failure to do so can
be catastrophic to your business! So don't put it off another
minute - make sure you computer and data is backed up in a safe

More About Swipe Files

Did You Create Your Swipe File?
More about that in a moment...

----------------------------------------------------------------

VIRUS WARNING:
We have been receiving lots of emails stating we have a postcard,
greeting card or something similar from someone. Most of those
emails have attachments as well. If you don't know who it is
from, delete it right now - do not open it - period! More info
can be obtained from a Snopes posting at:

GOFER's Rant
While surfing this week, we have seen more than our share of
advertisements for 1Up and 2Up programs. These are the ones
where your upline sponsor receives your first 1 or 2 commission
payments before you receive anything.

Unfortunately the majority of budding internet marketers only
receive anywhere from 1-3 signups/downline members in any
program. So why give away your hard earned commissions to your
upline sponsor? You did all the work to recruit new members, so
the commissions should rightfully be yours!

Our advice:
Stay clear of such programs, it will save you lots of wasted
effort and heartache. Go with the programs that pay YOU for your
work - be your own boss and keep your money! Remember...if its
sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

More In-Depth Swipe File Info
Last week, our requested lesson/assignment was to create a swipe
file about the Moneylegs program and share it with your team.
Did you get at least started putting info into your swipe file?

Remember...your swipe file is a list of important facts and URL's
related to a program - in this case Moneylegs unless you were not
a Moneylegs member. Then you were asked to create a swipe file
of your favorite program.

If you need to review last week's info titled "Where Do I Start",
its located right here (link to last week's blog entry)

How and What Goes In Your Swipe File?
If you see an interesting page while you are surfing (using
FireFox), you can easily save that particular frame in a new
window for later viewing. You right click anywhere inside the
framed area of your screen; then hover over "This Frame" until
its options appear and click on "Open Frame in New Window".

The other option is to bookmark that interesting page in a
special folder (example: interesting sites) so you can come back
to that bookmark folder later and view the sites. Make sure you
change the name of each bookmark you save as most will have the
name of the traffic exchange you are currently surfing as the
bookmark name.

Guess instead of calling the repository of info about a program a
swipe file, maybe it would more appropraitely be called a swipe
folder? As an example for Moneylegs-related info, just name the
folder Moneylegs!.

Then you can create a text file of useful URLs related to
Moneylegs along with the URLS of your sites/campaigns for traffic
exchanges. Another file might be key points about the terms of
service, points about membership levels and the list can go one
and on. Make sure you name each file so you know what info is
within the file.

The main thing is to have the necessary info handy when talking
to a new team member or prospective team member. Sure beats
having to load each webpage to find the answers to a person's
questions and give that person the "appearance" that you lack
knowledge about that program just because it takes a few seconds
for a webpage to load.

The possibilities are endless as far as what info you save. Its
all a matter of personal preference but having pertinent data
handy can make the difference whether a person joins your team or
not - show off your improved confidence and program knowledge.
It just increase the amount of cash you put into your pocket!

Where Do I Start?

I Just Joined Moneylegs - What Do I Do First?

Does this describe your feelings when you join any new program? What should I do first? Does the new program offer instructions as to the steps a new person needs to follow to achieve maximum benefit? What are the benefits? Has your sponsor contacted you? How did your sponsor contact you, if at all? Blah...blah...blah

The list of questions could go on and on...until you decide to do nothing at all as you are totally confused as to the what is the first steps!

As a good sponsor, make sure you do not do this to your new team members! At least try to contact them via email AND the telephone. Did you add them to your Yahoo or MSN Instant Messengers? How often do you contact your teammates? Do your fair share and more...the results will come back to you tenfold or better!

As a new teammate, contact your upline sponsor. Don't be bashful or ashamed. Show your willingness to learn. Let them know how to contact you. If you are too ashamed to share your contact information or communicate with your sponsor or teammates, then we suggest you find some other way to make money.

"No man is an island" - you cannot survive alone nor achieve success. Share your correct contact information! All these things as a sponsor you should know and be able to tell your new teammate. If you don't know what to tell them, how do you expect them to be productive?

How Do You Learn?
1. Study the program referral page yourself and make notes as to key points you will share with your teammates.

2. Bookmark that referral pa
