A Note From The Desk Of Nadine Rose.......

Well 2007 is history and 2008 lies ahead of us. Now is the time to assess our achievements (or lack of) over the past year and plan for this year.

Whether or not we accomplished all we set out to or achieved the level of success desired our focus needs to be on the present and plan for success, because if we don’t we plan to fail. Let’s not set ourselves up for failure at the very onset of a new year and new beginnings but rather begin by being attentive to planning and goal setting.

Goal setting is nothing short of visualizing what you want to achieve and then stating it against a time frame. Planning is quite simply plotting your course of action in order to achieve your desire. Your Goal setting should usually be set at three different levels. The first being your short term goals and these are to be executed within the time frame of 0 – 6 months. The next range of goals is referred to as your intermediate goals which are normally accomplished within the time frame of 6months – 1 year. Then the third stage of your goals is your long term goals which fall into a more futuristic time frame of between 1 – 3/5 years.

Short term goals are necessary for a sense of achievement while the longer term goals help keep you focused and moving forward, providing you with all important motivation.

So to go about Goal Setting, start by making a list of every goal you wish to achieve.

Then prioritize your list and break it down into the three different groups. Remember to be realistic and specific, keeping them simple and believe that you can achieve.

Once you have your goals listed you need to break them down into achievable steps within the time frame you have placed them in. So I have my list and have assessed what I need to do in order to make it happen. This has led me to break it down into monthly, weekly and daily categories and goals to achieve which will ultimately affect my longer term goals.

Some of your goals may be a case of ‘reach for the stars’ category of achievements. They will need to be broken down into smaller achievable steps to be approached one at a time. When you achieve a goal, celebrate. Then look to the next and remember your list of goals should be constantly reviewed.

A Note From The Desk Of Nadine Rose.......

Firstly I'd like to welcome Takisha Johnson, Michelle Schneider, and Sonny Mangum to our team . It is a pleasure to have you aboard. If you have not already replied to my welcome email please do and don't delay in adding me to your yahoo or msn messenger contact list. Make a note of the conference times and please make every effort to get to conference this week.

This week I'd like to focus on time management. Some of us are born managers of time and others (like myself) have to learn how to manage their time effectively.

Management of your time is vitally important if you are working from home. We have to learn to set boundaries and balance all the various commitments and demands upon our lives and still be able to put in constructive hours to our work. If you are like me working from home offers many more distractions than I’d experience normally. Gaining control of your life and balancing everything effectively is important otherwise you will find yourself not being as effective with your business as you’d like to be. It requires discipline and begins with a commitment to change. You need to be focused and must have a plan to which you are committed.

First things first, draft your plan. Take a look at what your daily routine is and what demands or other commitments you may have. Write them down and make a note of time related ones. Then re-list them in order of priority.

(You will need to be aware of your priorities of life for this.)

Once you have done that grab/create a diary page and block out the committed times filling in the task. Once you have completed that you’ll have a clear idea of your possible times to commit to your on-line business. Your business is a priority and so you may need to juggle a few other things around to accommodate it. When I started my day was dreadfully fragmented by commitments that I never had enough time to accomplish anything at any one sitting. So I reassessed my priorities, treating my home business as one.

With my children being all of school age I decided we’d all start the day with my husband as a family. (This was change no.1-as they were used to sleeping in and getting up after dad had gone to work. It just meant getting to bed earlier at night.) I found by doing that I was able to accomplish the major part of the daily house work with the help of the children before school started. (Instead of waiting for them to go to school and then getting down to it – this was change no.2).So now when I look at my list I see according to priority family and home had been taken care of. (For the first part of the day anyway. Once school was out they would become my priority again.)

The next thing was to work into the weeks time-table the shopping and paying of bills and block that off. Next was my time, so I blocked off my three visits to the gym a week and blocked off the lunch hour for catching up with friends, read, or whatever I so wished. It was my valuable ‘me time’.

Once that was done I was able to block out what would be my working hours. I basically am able to put in good four or five hours a day Monday to Friday. Now I had my plan and was committed to sticking to it.

Next you need to take a look at whatever else may possibly interrupt your focus once you sit down to work. For example, the phone and drop-in-for coffee friends. Use an answering machine. Make a time (like first task of your working day) to check for messages, make a note of the messages and make any call backs necessary straight away. You can then put the answering machine on again and check it at the end of your working day. All it takes is a polite message explaining you can’t come to phone right now and that you’ll get back to the caller at the nearest convenient time. As for your friends, simply let them know what you are doing and if you wish to catch up schedule it into your weekly / daily planner. As with the phone it is a good idea to turn off those email notifications and simply check emails at certain times. Again I check mine first and last thing with the phone. Now you are free for business!

A Note From The Desk Of Nadine Rose.......

Let us take a look at your home office or work space this week -

A home office is still an office, so be sure to keep it a place where you can work with minimal distractions. Obviously if you are working from home your home and family comes first and so your work schedule is in a sense flexible, carved around family commitments and so each day’s schedule will vary. However be sure that everyone understands that you are not at their beck and call and that work is a part of your schedule/routine each day. Stay dedicated to the hours you carve out and set aside to work.

Set aside an area of your home just for work. If you have an office or spare room you can use then you can easily close the door and shut out noise and distractions. (Even get a Do Not Disturb sign if you like) However this would depend very much on the age of children. Avoid having anything in your office that would potentially distract you from focusing on your work like a television.

If it is not possible to set aside an entire room then select a corner of room which is relatively quiet and is not in use during the times you want to work. Be strict with yourself to stay within the boundaries of your work schedule. If you stop work when the children get home from school as I do then turn your computer off and leave your work space entirely. If possible close the door and resist the temptation to gravitate toward your computer again. It is easy for a home business entrepreneur to become a workaholic due to the pure convenience of home and office under one roof. Creating a balance between work and family/home is possible. One thing to remember is your work space is a part of your home but it is not your home itself. (You would never work 24hrs a day 7 days a week in the corporate world so don’t do it at home.) You have a life apart from your business so take time out to live it.

Having created you space, take time to personalise it. Make it comfortable and a place you want to be, adding photos and ornaments or plants reflecting just who you are. Try to create an inspiring atmosphere adding your motivational visuals. Keep it tidy, clean and well organized.

Here are a few tips and pointers you may find worthy of consideration before you get started...

#1 Your Home business should be your passion. It would be wise to select a home business which is related directly to what you are interested in and passionate about. This will help you through the tough spots and hopefully deter you from the temptation to quit. Thus keeping you motivated.

#2 You are your own boss. This is both a perk and a great responsibility. You are responsible for the out come of your business as it rests on your efforts and your efforts alone. Be prepared to work investing time and money educating and equipping yourself to further your knowledge and skills in order to be successful.

#3 You are not an employee of your business you are the boss! It is your business! As an entrepreneur you must treat it as one. Think, plan, strategise like a business owner and not an employee. You are no longer working for money per hour.

#4 Be prepared to invest in your business before expecting a return. Invest wisely into you business when and as it requires.

#5 Think big! An internet business is a global affair. That is a pretty awesome field to work in. Many online businesses can also be worked offline too. So don’t limit your thinking. Be prepared to work your business both online and offline.

#6 Have an attitude of always learning and improving. Online business is subject to revolution. That means it is constantly changing and you need to be prepared to change and evolve with it. Never assume you know everything you will ever need to build your business as this is dangerous to your success.

#7 It’s all about others. That’s right if you are involved in an affiliate program like most of us you will be building your list/downline.You are there to help them build their businesses as the team leader. In helping others achieve the success they desire your success is eminent.

#8 There is no such thing as overnight success! A business takes time to build and establish. There is no such thing as success without applied effort and that takes time.

Firstly I would like to say a warm 'welcome aboard' to our newest team member. It is a pleasure to have you join the team focused on creating the dream and living it.

It is of utmost importance that you establish your reason ‘why’ you are embarking on your venture of making money online and establishing your own internet business. Is it enough to drive and motivate you? What is it you wish to achieve or what is your hearts desire? There are a few reasons like, taking back your life; a supplementary income; more time with your family; to discover and enjoy financial freedom; to live the life of your dreams; fulfil your material dreams; a retirement income; what ever your reason it needs to be your motivation to see it through from the dream into reality. It may do well to write your reasons for doing this down and have it close by for easy referral. There may be times when you’ll need to refresh your memory and refocus. It is a good idea to maybe laminate it and stick it near your computer. Another helpful motivation point is to have a picture of what you want stuck near your computer too. If it is a car try to find a pic of the exact one, or a house or even a holiday brochure of where you wish to holiday. Then if you want to get really visual and graphic place a progress graph next to it. Visualization is an important part of self motivation.

Another week has passed what an exciting week it has been for me. I completed my website and organized my very unique series of splash pages :) (done by Bee Unique Splash Pages)Thus the mission to brand myself is complete and what an awesome feeling it is! And it is thanks to everything I learned in the SeoSquid solutions training course and simply being a part of the GJW family of programs community. Branding yourself requires having a domain name and hosting which are available through GJW and is the first step toward success online.
