The Common Reader

I came across this excellent quote of Virginia Woolf's from The Second Common Reader

"To admit authorities, however heavily furred and gowned, into our
libraries and let them tell us how to read, what value to place upon
what we read, is to destroy the spirit of freedom which is the breath of
these sanctuaries. Everywhere else we may be bound by laws and
conventions - there we have none" (p258).

We need to be independent thinkers and not be beguiled by the academics and doctors.

As an aside I have joined up with LotsMore Hits this week and have had spectatcular success over the last 2 days - 4 StartXchange signups, I Traffic Pods and 3 to LotsMoreHits itself.

Stormy Weather

We are in the midst of a storm here. High winds with all sorts of debris being blown asunder.  Life is like that sometimes, but there is always an end to the storm and the moving air often clears away the cobwebs.

I had not been on ny motorbike for 2 weeks so I attempted a quick ride yesterday - Yikes it was cold!! Only did 20km before heading home for the fire.

As Dryden says,

Calms appear, when Storms are past;
Love will have his Hour at last:
Nature is my kindly Care;
Mars destroys, and I repair;
Take me, take me, while you may,
Venus comes not ev’ry Day.

Regards to all
