Like Books - Like Minds?

It is very informative to see what books your colleagues and friends are reading. As well as being a window into their minds it is also a great source to find new authors. One of my friends put me onto Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon by telling me an amusing story about the book. His story piqued my interest and I recently purchased the book. I'm loving it!!! Thank you for the tip Greg. What are you reading at the moment - share it with us all.

Kind Regards

And So to Bed

Bedtime is another great time to read. Though I must admit I often wake up half way through the night with my book slumped open before me. If I can sleep I read, if I can't sleep I read - now that is what I call a win-win situation!

Kind Regards

The World of Books

The world of books is the most remarkable creation of man. Nothing else that he builds ever lasts. Monuments fall, nations perish, civilizations grow old and die out, and after an era new races build others. But in the world of books are volumes that have seen this happen again and again and yet live on, still young, still as fresh as the day they were written, still telling men's hearts of the heart of men centuries dead. - Clarence Day

In these troubled days we can still find the wisdom and guidance of the ancients in the books they wrote. There are a lot of advantages of getting the teachings straight from the authors metaphorical mouth.

Keep Well

Book Lover's Quote

Show me the books he loves and I shall know / The man far better than through mortal friends. - S. Weir Mitchell

The first thing I invariably do when I go into someones house is to look at their books (with appropriate permission of course). It always gives you an indication of whare that person's interests lie. The sad thing is that many homes have no books - what a tragedy!!

Happy Reading

Amazing Amazon

I've just been hunting books on Amazon. I now feel assured that I'm not the only person in the world that is addicted to books - I have found and ordered the following books:

A Year of Reading: A month by Month Guide to Classics and Crowd-Pleasers for You and your Book Group by Elisabeth Ellington (a well known librarian)

So Many Books, So Little Time: A Year of Passionate Reading by Sara Nelson

Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment and Reason by Nancy Pearl

Now all I have to do is wait for the delivery.

Best Wishes

Unexpectedly Good Book

I am reading the Meaning of Everything - a history of the Oxford English dictionary. It looked like it would be boring but instead it is fascinating and very readable. You will find it in a bookstore near you.
