One of the most beautiful and graceful of God's creations.
Hummingbirds are one of the most astonishing creatures to study. Their acrobatic flights and arial antics will keep you watching for hours. There are many different kinds and colors in the world but only a small portion of them can be seen in the United States. Only the migratory Ruby-throated Hummingbird breeds in eastern North America. The Black-chinned Hummingbird, its close relative and another migrant, is the most widespread and common species in the western United States and Canada. Hummingbirds have been around for a long as man can remember. The Aztec god Huitzilopochtli is often depicted as a hummingbird. The Nahuatl word huitzil (hummingbird) is an onomatopoeic word derived from the sounds of the hummingbird's wing-beats and zooming flight. For more information on the hummingbird and tips on how to set up feeders or plant an hummingbird garden go to this website. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummingbird Posted at 01:50:38 PM | Post Comment | Read Comments (2)
