May Your Have a Happy & Prosperous New Year

I am so fortunate to have a caring family...husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. They have taught me many of lifes lessons.  I began as a young person with a set of assumptions, that I havefound to be way off base.  Life has taught me that the only person I can control is myself.  Those around me are guided by the whole of experiences they live, which are very different from my own.  Our culture teaches that parents are responsible for the way their children behave.  It is true that we must teach our children how the world operates, but the choices they make are their own.
  
I remember as a kid, lying in the grass watching the clouds pass by, thinking about things my parents told me were true.  I was always kind of a rebel...that is, thought things through for myself.  We were raised to believe that we should fear God, since we would be burned in hell,
if we did not follow the rules of the church.  Well, I have long since discovered, that the mainline Christian churches teach a very narrow view of the Creator.  At least the home I was raised in, did so.

I have learned over the years, that we are all made to be responsible co-creators of our life. Our beliefs create the context in which we operate.  The events and consequences of our lives result from these.  It is a learning experience and we must live with its consequences.

May our choices in 2008 lead to peace and good will on the earth, so that all may live in prosperity.
