Simple CURE for Cell Phone Fraud:

A couple of days ago I watched a woman on National TV News explaining her plight after having her cell phone stolen, her cell phone ID CLONED and then she received a bill for $13,900.00 including taxes.

After multiple attempts and brush offs, and many months of hassle, it appears that Rogers Wireless agreed to write off the charges her cell phone received as a result of Cell Phone Fraud and Cell Phone Cloning.

Apparently Ted Rogers, CEO, of Rogers Wireless, ( Rogers Communications ), and several of his senior executives, were targeted with a scanner to CLONE their cell phone ID's and thousands of overseas calls logged are believed to be by members of the terrorist group linked to Hezbollah.

If you are one of the lucky ones that just happens to have a normal Cell Phone Theft to deal with, in all likelihood you will receive a small Cell Phone bill created by some thrill seeking young person. Cell Phone Theft can be something as simple as a relative or a friend that picks up your Cell Phone to make a couple of calls, to a co-worker, that steals your Cell Phone out of petty retaliation to cause you grief, possibily for reasons unknown to you.

The most serious and costly type of Cell Phone Theft doesn't usually require your Cell Phone to leave your physical posession, it's known as Cell Phone Cloning. They may do the cloning, physically, from your Cell Phone, but more often Cell Phone Cloning can often be accomplished by the use of a 'Scanner'.

There are dozens of websites that offer consumer assistance about Cell Phones, like the "US Consumer Group Look at Cell Phones", others will offer you indepth infornation on your Cell Phone Vulnerabilities.

BUT, there are other sites on the Web that actually offer detailed instructions on "how to" CLONE Cell Phones with out much difficulty.

Well, I thought there must be some Cell Phone legislation around somewhere to insist Cell Phone Carriers offer better protection to their Cell Phone Subscribers. WOW! the only legislation I could find on the Web, referenced legislation already in existence, or coming, about the ban of Cell Phone use in motorized vehicles. Banning Cell Phone use in Vehicles appears to be picking up tremendous momentum as you can see at this website, Countries that ban cell phones while driving:

In my humble opinion, all communications companies, that leave the door open for their Cell Phone subscribers to be victumized by Cell Phone Fraud should be charged for Conspiracy to Commit Fraud.

Now hear me out before you brush me off here. If a person had knowledge of a crime before it happened and made no attempt to inform the proper authorities to stop it, they can, and often are, charged as an accessory to that crime. Even if they become aware of a crime AFTER the crime has taken place, and do not notify the proper authorities, they can, and often are, charged for With holding Evidence or Conspiracy AFTER the Fact.

There is definitely a Simple Way to CURE Cell Phone Fraud, the technology is already available and all Cell Phone Carriers need to do to activate these Cell Phone safety measures is to give a damn about their customer base.

This lady that received her Cell Phone bill for $13,900,00 averaged around $75.00 a month and NEVER had made an oversears call with her Cell Phone.

All Cell Phone Carriers could, and should, put a stop to Cell Phone Fraud, ( hundreds of millions of dollars annually ) but simply adding to more option choices on the Cell Phone User Contracts.

1] Will you use this account to make any overseas calls? YES ___ NO ___

2] Would you like to put a ceiling on your monthly Cell Phone bill by the month?
If YES, how much? _____

It would now be a simple task for a technican, while activating your Cell Phone, to code limitations into your Cell Phone account.

PRESTO! You now have some actual controls on what the Cell Phone Carrier can stick you with if you end up becoming the victim of a Cell Phone Fraud or Cell Phone Cloning crime.

Will the Cell Phone Carriers implement these measures?

Not likely without a serious push from someone with more clout. ( REMEMBER who gets paid for those hundreds of millions in stolen Cell Phone Calls ). Sure millions of Cell Phone users could spend a lot of time and money trying to force their political representatives to pass the appropriate laws. But there is a better way, one that will really grab their attention.

And it wouldn't take a terrible lot of people to be involved.

It's called a Class Action Suit, and it would likely need to happen in the United States first, Canada has a habit of stone walling Class Action Suits.

Find the right Law Firm, Charge your Cell Phone Carrier with a civil action for Conspiracy to Commit Fraud against you and all of their other Cell Phone Subscribers.

REMEMBER who is receivng those HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of DOLLARS from bills generated by Cell Phone Fraud. And they have it written right in their Cell Phone User Agreement you MUST sign to purchase your Cell Phone and Cellular Air Time.

Yes a Class Action Suit would fair well, Cell Phone Providers are aware of the FRAUD before it happens, Cell Phone Providers make a minimal effort to stop the Fraud even though they could protect the Cell Phone Subscriber from over 90% of the costs, and, Cell Phone Providers reap the monetary gain by participating in this FRAUD against their registered users.

Why wouldn't a Class Action Suit on these merits alone win EVERY Class Action Suit filed. The first precedent set in a State or Federal Court would clean up the Cell Phone Industry overnight.
