Merry Christmas! Politically Correct? Ba! HumBUG!

A few years back I use to publish a Cottage/Rural magazine, in that magazine I was known to do the odd editorial on politics. You have heard of 'freedom of the press', ( I don't recommend this link unless you have a bit of time and a serious concern for your freedoms, it is intense ), don't believe it, I had more government agencies giving me grief than I was aware even existed. After that I swore off mixing into politics.

But then a few years later, here I am watching a new politically fed disease spread across the continent, and wouldn't you know it, it's aptly named "POLITICALLY CORRECT" (cultural Marxism).

Across North America, the media in general, politicians at all levels, and bureaucrats are wading in on Christmas with an attitude to despoil it and make Christmas a secular event to close out every passing year. It appears most of the countries that extol 'freedom of the press' ( this link covers a more global picture on public freedoms ), for the last few decades are the main countries behind this KILL CHRISTMAS campaign.

In Boston, MA they tried to kill a 30 year Christmas tree GIFT tradition, in Ottawa, Canada, the new Governor General's Office almost KILLED CHRISTMAS by announcing the 'tree' would be called "Holiday Tree" in instead of Christmas Tree for POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

It's not just politicians that have been working to KILL CHRISTMAS. About 50 years ago, Coca Cola decided they wanted more pop sales from the winter months, that's when their sales fell off the most. Enter the present day image of Santa Claus, the fat guy dressed in red. No religious references what so ever and all traces of the original Saint Nick began to fade away.

I'm all for governments, Federal, State/Provincial, and Local Government bodies to actually make that step forward and SEPARATE CHURCH and STATE. I would far rather have no Christmas decorations on government buildings than to have the government telling my children Christmas is Dead, long live the holidays.

If for no other reason to save BILLIONS of tax payer dollars that are required for the labor, electricity and decoration replacement costs, governments spend every year to LIGHT UP, the new Holiday Season.

To me, these BILLIONS of wasted TAX DOLLARS should be channeled into our education, medical or seniors support systems rather than screwing around with hundreds of years of traditions to spiritually castrate a huge percentage of North American citizen's.

Do you have any idea how many North American seniors are living way below the poverty line? Do you have any idea how many people are dying because they cannot afford the appropriate medical care?

Big Business wants to adjust Christmas to just a "Holiday Season" so they can convert the 65 to 70 million new immigrants that have arrive in North America over the last 25-30 years into HOLIDAY CONSUMERS.

North American Governments and many European Union countries, largely give an image about human rights and religious freedoms, yet here we are living in the middle of a 21st century McCarthyism style witch hunt. We are at a pivot point to defame families values, religious freedoms and Christian traditions.

It was only 70+ years ago that parts of Europe started to drive the Jewish Faith underground, then it's synagogues, then it's businesses then the people themselves.

Unlikely you think, there are a lot more Christians around today than there were Jews in Europe 70+ years ago. Maybe so, but with the intense media and distractions directed at our populations today, removing Christ and Christmas from this time of the year is a really serious step toward driving Christianity underground.

Everyone alive today should stand against this form persecution on one of the world's largest and oldest religions, even if you are not Christian by faith, will your faith be next for the chopping block?

EVERY BREATHING person on the planet should be concerned and stand against this shameful action.

Wow. I was seeing and hearing a bit of this already, but Doug, you've really got it all out here for me. And Chris - what a comment - so true...and disturbing.

On one hand, I love the differences in the people of today, with their different cultures and traditions -- but on the other, I feel like my traditional candle is being snuffed out. I'm not allowed to say "Merry Christmas", I must say, "Happy Holidays". I'm not allowed to have a Nativity Set in my front yard, yet a fella in Miami Beach can Hang Santa from a Tree, crushing the hearts of all the children in the neighborhood, and it's okay? because he's protected under the First Amendment?? Please.

Now I feel like ranting... lol Instead, I will go and do as you suggest in part 2...contact the representatives.
