Bell Sympatico & FutureShop Kick Customers in the HEAD!

Well I was going through my daily pile of snail spam, I came across yet another flyer (catalogue ) of wonderful 'deals' being offered at my local Future Shop. Apparently Future Shop is part of a bigger chain of electonic stores, Best Buy Canada Ltd, which in turn is a wholly owned subsidairy of Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE:BBY).

It seems that all good things eventually get gobbled up by multi-national conglomerates, and their first rule of thumb appears to be 'customer appreciation', NOT!

From this flyer I learn that on top of the great deals on desk top and laptop computers from Future Shop, I can receive an extra two HUNDERED dollar rebate from Bell Sympatico ISP.

Of course there is a catch. You only qualify for this deal from Sympatico IF you sign a one year contract AND you are a NEW subscriber to Bell Sympatico. Now here comes the tricky part. I, who have been a subscriber of Bell Sypatico for years, want to buy a new computer, but because I'm already a Bell Sympatico subscriber, Bell Sympatico and Future Shop are basically saying, "Screw You, we already have your money".

Now either way I look at it, I'm offended.

From the pro customer side, I have to be offended that both of these conglomerates hired someone, a professional market anylst, to come up with this promotion and insult their existing customers.

From the pro business side of the equation, I'm even more offended.
Is their attitude once they have our money we do not count?
Do they feel once they have us registered, and feel they own our email address that we cannot go elsewere, it would be to much work for us, their EXISTING customer base.

It bothers me that for the last several years I have been paying them $44.95 a month and a BRAND NEW CUSTOMER to Bell Sympatico will only be paying $28.28 for the next 12 months. AND I get to spend $200.00 MORE than this NEW Future Shop - Sympatico subscriber does IF I buy a new computer from Future Shop.

There are other options:

1] Get a FREE ONLINE Email Address, independent of Sympatico and their bed partner MSN

2] Check out your options to switch to a cable ISP, SWITCH and tell Bell Sympatico you didn't feel appreciated

3] Hit them even harder and switch to another ISP carrier that uses Bell Sympatico lines to access your home.

The point is this, ALL Multi-National Conglomerates are treating their customers LESS and LESS like people and more like slaves. We should feel priviledged they will even take our money, have you tried to talk to a PERSON in their customer support lately? Most tie you up in knots waiting, pushing buttons, starting ovr again, some do offer a real person, but if you push for answers, you find out you're talking to an employee of some call center.

It doesn't matter what country you live in, Conglomerate customer abuse is happening everywhere.

We can make a difference, start by posting your comment to this blog. Start a blog of your own and write about similar issues you have noticed, write a letter to the editor of your local paper, tell the manager at your local Best Buy or Future Shop Store, tell them why you bought your new computer elsewhere.

Thanksgiving or Christmas Wild Rice Turkey Stuffing:

A few years ago I developed a Wild Rice Turkey Stuffing that caught on rather well and over the years I have shared this recipe with family and friends. I thought I'd add this recipe to my blog in the hope others may enjoy a little different and unique Turkey Stuffing with their family and friends as well.

Wild Rice apparently originated in North America and is most common to the north central US states and Canada.

Here are a few links where you can do a bit of research on Wild Rice, order it directly and even check out other Thanksgiving Turkey and Christmas Turkey recipes. There are a couple of locations for Minnesota Wild Rice, another for Minnesota & Wisconsin and one site for Oregon. We have also added links to Wild Rice sites in Manitoba and Saskatchewan Canada.

Over the years I have lived in several parts of Canada, picked up a few ideas here and there and even discovered different spices I came to enjoy and learned to how to expand my personal recipe portfolio. A lot of my recipes were passed down from my ancestors, canned pike and muskie, ( that rivals any canned pacific salmon), from my grandma's recipe, Beaver shank steak from my granddad's recipe, ( or grandad's recipe ), even an awesome Curried Goat dish from a mining buddy's Jamaican grandmother.

I guess I best stop rambling, if you would be interested in any of these recipes in future blog entries, drop a note in my comments section.

Back to the Wild Rice Stuffing, Dressing or side dish, guess it can be identified by several handles. If you want quick access to Wild Rice, check your local listings for natural foods stores, bulk grains food stores, many of these stores carry Wild Rice as part of their regular stock.

OKAY, the recipe, should supply enough Turkey Stuffing for 6 to 8 people with leftovers, freezes well.

STEP 1:
The night before your cook, place 3 cups of Wild Rice in 6 cups of water, let soak for 12 - 14 hours.
Before cooking, strain soak water off, bring pot of clean water to a boil and add soaked Wild Rice,
make sure water is 1/2 inch over Wild Rice, simmer partially covered for about 60 minutes
( until most water has boiled off ).
STEP 2:
While your Wild Rice is cooking, place 1.5 lbs. ( 700 g ) of lean ground beef (optional )
in the oven at 325 degrees for about 90 minutes.

List of Ingredients:

4 eggs
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup fine chopped parsley
4 cups 'cooked' Wild or Brown Rice
1.5 lbs. lean ground beef
4 medium carrots
4 'middle' celery stalks
8 oz. fine chopped fresh mushroom

2 tblsp of Soya sauce
1 tsp of celery salt
1 tblsp of fine ground sage
1/4 cup of fine ground tarragon
1/2 tsp of mustard powder
1 tsp of garlic powder or fresh clove fine chopped
1 medium fine chopped Spanish onion
1 medium fine chopped red bell pepper

STEP 3:
Mix eggs, salt, parsley, Soya, celery salt, sage, tarragon, mustard powder, together and blend into Wild Rice.
STEP4:
Chop up lean ground beef, add all fine chopped vegetables, mushrooms, celery stocks,
onion, carrots, garlic, red pepper and mix well. Slowly stir in the egg/spice mixture until mixed evenly.

Cooking Options:
Best used to stuff turkey, add excess stuffing to turkey roasting pan wrapped in tin foil OR
place balance of Wild Rice Turkey Stuffing in a covered ceramic oven bowl.

Complete stuffing may be cooked separately in a covered ceramic oven bowl, however if you
go this route, we recommend you add the turkey neck, heart and gizzard on top of the Wild Rice
Stuffing to enhance the flavor for your meal and future warm-up snacks.
