Hi. My name is Glenda Schloff. I live in beautiful Coos Bay on the coast of southern Oregon.
Our 5th Wheel

At the age of 48 I taught myself how to use the computer (took to it like a duck to water! :>) )... and now, a few years later I consider myself fairly knowledgeable. Always learning though, it's neverending.

I have two dogs, a SmoothCoat Chow Chow and a Pekingnese, both rescued. They're my babies.

I had tropical fish tanks before moving into a 37 foot fifth wheel to live. I miss them, but sure don't miss cleaning their tanks, ha!
I love to read, and research. I'm an avid book collector of varied subjects. I'm also an eclectic collector of all kinds of things. Love garage sales and 'really' love BOGO sales! LOL!

I love to crochet and want to do arts and crafts and learn how to make wire jewelry, my own planters and birdbaths. I love gardening too.

I have a guitar and a 5 string banjo, but don't know how to play either one of them. sigh...someday.......

I'm married 20 years this July to a great guy who is a Boom Truck Operator for a RailRoad Bridge Repair Crew who travels all over the United States. My goal is to earn enough money from my internet business to bring him home off the road. I am determined that that will be this year!

Our Prayers

2005-08-31 @ 08:02:55 PM

I really don't know what title to give this today, there are so many I can think of....

My heart and prayers go out to the thousands of people that have been devastated by hurricane Katrina.

It's hard for those of us that are safe to even fathom the extent of devastation those people have gone and are going through.

I pray that we can all pull together and help in any ways we can. Lord knows they need every prayer, every dollar, and helping hand we can give.

Shameful....

I was horrified to see all the looting going on.  I can understand the grocery stores for food and water right now but not other people's belongings and new things from stores.  Where do they think they are going to take them or use them?  It's just unbelievable.  Those people that are looting have no morals or conscience. The people that are raising prices on gasoline and whatever else are guilty too.

I hope there are laws in place that prevent people from making money on other people's miseries.  In recent times I've seen people making T-Shirts practically before the devastation had ended.  I say "Shame On You!"

I'm watching the news as I write.  Some people have found a spot where their cell phones work!  At the edge of a bridge that is no more.  I hope my neighbor's Mom who lives in Mississippi can call and let her know that she is ok.

Newscasters have said that there are probably "thousands" that have perished or been killed in this killer hurricane.  God Bless their Souls.

Tick...Tock...

2005-08-19 @ 11:22:30 PM

Is it warm where you're at? I bet it's warmer than here! For a week or so
now it's been cloudy, foggy and cold! I'm freezing. Can you believe I've
had to use my heater a few times lately? In August?! Yep, it's true. It's
like that alot here. I can be in my sweats here, drive two miles up the
road a bit more inland and I'd be wishing I had worn shorts and a cool
top. Such as life at the beach!

I've been getting the house and my desk (I can actually see the surface
now!) cleaned the last couple of days because my husband is coming
home for a week's vacation! He'll be here around 1:00 am. I bet he'll
be pretty tired. He said he thought it would take him about 10 hours.
From Tulare, Ca. to Coos Bay, Or. He just called and said that he was
in Ashland Or, and I asked him if he was driving 100 miles an hour! I
didn't expect him until tomorrow morning! He said he was doing around
80 and that even the police were passing him. Sheesh. I think 55 is too
fast!! LOL. Well, I'd better get back to it.

More soon....Butterfly

Turban Wearers....

2005-08-13 @ 04:30:38 PM

I am part Cherokee Indian and very proud of that fact.

I want to share a bit about the great Sequoyah, who was a warrior, inventor, and educator. Sequoyah invented the Cherokee Alphabet. Sequoyah also wore a turban.

SequoyahThe great Cherokee educator and social activist Sequoyah.

Using a phonetic system, where each sound made in speech was represented by a symbol, he created the "Talking Leaves", 85 letters that make up the Cherokee syllabary (he would later add another symbol, making the total 86).

His little girl Ayoka easily learned this method of communication. He demonstrated his syllabary to his cousin, George Lowrey by sending Ayoka outside the house, then asking Lowrey to answer a question. Sequoyah wrote the answer down on a piece of paper, then had Ayoka read the answer to Lowrey. Lowrey encouraged Sequoyah to demonstrate the syllabary in public. A short time later in a Cherokee Court in Chattooga, he read an argument about a boundary line from a sheet of paper. Word spread quickly of Sequoyah's invention. In 1821, 12 years after the original idea, the Cherokee Nation adopted Sequoyah's alphabet as their own. Within months thousands of Cherokee became literate. Read more....

It's Been A Week!

2005-08-13 @ 03:43:08 PM

Wow!  I hadn't realized it had been so long since my last post.

Didja miss me?  haha

I've been so busy getting Bear's food prepared and doing my daily routines, I just haven't had much time for anything else.  It's really a job getting Bear's special diet all put together.

As most of you probably know, there isn't much room in an RV, so to prepare Bear's diet for the next 7 days I had to cook a 12 pound turkey and two 8-9 pound hens.  Cook a ton of rice and shred 21 carrots.  Thank goodness we have the deck.  I had one turkey in a crockpot, one in a big pot on my stove and one in my FlavorWave on my table on our deck.  Thank goodness for the deck!  I also had two rice cookers going.

Then I had to let it all cool so I could debone and mince  the turkey, mix all the ingredients together and put 6 cups of the mixture in a container for each day.  I have enough for 7 days now so I don't have to do this again for at least 5 days, LOL!  What a job!!

When my husband called last night I told him how much work it is to prepare Bear's diet and he said:  "Well, you could trade the dogs in for two new ones."  I said:  Ohhhh no!  Never!  He laughed and said:  "Then it's worth it huh?"  And it is,  but I'm pooped!

Well, I'd better get to it, still have to water my garden and do a ton of computer work.  So I guess this is it for today.  Until next time....

 nice rover

Updates

2005-08-03 @ 11:36:55 PM

My Mother is ok.  She didn't have a heart attack but her heart was beating super fast and in a weird way.  The way she described it this:  put your hands into fists, one on top of the other, then open and close both hands a few times.  That's how a normal heartbeat should be.  Now open and close each hand one after the other.  That's what moms heart was doing.

She had gone out shopping and just over did it.  They did send her home with new medications however.

~~~~~~~
Bear's nose.  I've started the Homeopathy treatment.  I have to fight him to put the cream on his nose but it gets done.  Last night I tried giving him his  sulphur pills inside some liverwurst.  You'd think a dog would scarf that right down.  He turned up his nose at it.  So this morning I tried some soft cheese.  That worked, thank goodness!  :)
~~~~~~~

I've got my telephone hooked up to my router now and it works fine so far.  It took me about 23 hours all told. So no more high telephone bills!  Hurrah!

Frustration is.... :)

2005-08-03 @ 08:21:31 PM

Yesterday I decided to hook up a phone adapter to my computer so that I can use Vonage, an internet telephone company that will save us oodles of money each month! Since Ken is on the road and calls me every night this will help our pocketbook immensely.   It looked fairly simple....NOT!

I followed directions, after much struggling, up and down, up and down,  (my computer is hooked up "under" my desk and it is a hassle to have to work on it) but could not get on the internet.  So I thought it had to be in my internet settings.  Nope.  So I played with them for awhile to no avail.

Then, somehow I deleted one of my Network Connections, and that's when the troubles really started.   Grrrrrr!

But...24 hours later, with only about 4 hours sleep this morning, it's finally working and I'm back online.

Frustration is......when you have to teach yourself and it takes 3 times longer than it should.  But....I learned alot along the way.

I still haven't hooked up a telephone to the adapter because I'm waiting to hear about my Mother.  She was rushed to the hospital last night for what she and my daughter thought was a heart attack.  But as of late last night, they're saying it wasn't a heart attack, but they kept her to perform more tests. If you've a mind to, please say a prayer for her? Thank you very much.

I've tried calling the hospital and my daughter's house (6 hours away) but cannot get hold of anyone.  When I call the hospital I either get told that all circuits are busy or there is no answer in her room.

I'm getting worried.......  :-/

Well, I need to get back to work, I'm way behind now because it took so long to install the adapter.  ;~\

Until next time....tata!
