Power Up Combining SEO & Marketing Research

Power Up Combining SEO &  Marketing Research

The real power of Search engine optimization  and how it can effect the end results of your marketing research is not all that obvious at first.

Although the Internet is a wonderful place to conduct marketing research, it is way too wide in what it has to offer.

Picture this.  You get up early one morning, pour yourself a hot tea or cup of coffee, and sit down at the keyboard.  You have a couple of ideas in mind and away you go searching for marketing information.  Trouble is, you find more than you bargained for. And that's the problem.

Before you know it, you have put in a couple of hours doing steady research, have uncovered some great finds but you  are no closer to defining the material you were looking for in the first place.

Whatever your search engine parameters were intitially, it is time to redefine them.  Let's say you are looking for lead generation information.

You have a web site, you need to get it in front of thousands of hungry eyeballs.  So how do you go about searching for these hungry prospects?

Simple -  it requires thinking like a prospect.  Using search engines means using the search term ideas that your  own targeted prospect will likely use to find the information they are looking for.  Hopefully, if you have done your search engine optimizing correctly, they will find you.

Using search engines for defined results means taking  another look at what your prospect may be searching for.

Symptoms + Problems = Solutions

One of the things about people that constantly amazes me is how easy it is to find the symptoms of issues they suffer.  What is not so easy is to provide the solution to their problems.  Why?

Because you are not the Encyclopedia of mistakes and solutions.  Nor is your web site.  Your reason for having a web site will not cover all the needs of hungry online prospects.

This is where you begin to use search engine optimization techniques to prepare your web site to fit the needs of your targeted market, the prospects you do want to attract to what you have to offer on your particular website.

How many prospects are searching for your chosen phrase?

What are your targeted prospects REALLY searching for?

Try getting creative.  Think about the symptoms - what is  hurting your prospects.   Now that keyword phrase might just draw you a ton of possible prospects (as long as it fits your site theme). Here you need to be looking for the direct hits to your chosen keyword phrase AND  the related searches to plays on your keyword phrase.
