Blue Monday

I wonder if they call today Blue Monday with any real
justification?  Maybe, maybe not.  I suppose it depends
solely on how you view it and use it.

I'm tired.  I hate it when I do not sleep well, and I hate
it even worse when my plans for a productive day take
the high road.

My files are full to TO DO notes, each carrying the needs
of honest intentions that get way laid by the priority needs
of a new day.  Grrrrrrr ... (some days I wish I was a dog -
I could bite somebody's leg and at least shake the frustration.)

It is late and I have made a new plan for all following
Mondays.  I will plan my week's work and priortize the needs.
This idea would possibly have some merit except Monday is
over and I have not laid one plan for this week.

If I had a dog, I think I would bite his leg.

Kick Back Weekend

One nice thing about  a covered balcony is that you can sit and
enjoy the scenery, drink a favorite beverage, think on problems,
or just watch the world go by.

The weather makes no difference, just your survival instincts
when the winds and rains blow hard.

Weekends should be our kick back and relax times yes?  Time to
spend with family members who tolerate our distraction with
our online business and conferences and team members in need.

Time for a little tlc  for ourselves.  Unwind from the weekly
pressures and prepare our mindset for the week to come.  No
matter how we may wish otherwise, tomorrow always comes
and we are inundated with its own unexpected demands.

What have you done with your weekend?  What gentle unerring
step have you taken to tell your near and dear they are loved and
important?  What did you do that was different, enjoyable and
refreshing for you?

Think I will call up my g'sons, grab the dogs, don  some rain gear
and we can all take a stroll to the park and play toss with the
dogs.   Rain days do not have to be grey days.  The sky takes care
of that issue.  Been a while since I kicked happily through some
puddles and ran to avoid the splash.

Have a great and invigorating day.  Do something rare to make
your life sparkle with pleasure and be sure to share it.

Bombay You Say?

Our Democracy that allows freedom of choice is something
we are all proud to take advantage of as it suits our needs.
As long as we do not interefere in the rights of others, that
democratic freedom of choice is beneficial to all citizens.

But what happens when the government takes that choice a
step too far?  What happens to your security, paid for in taxes
and laws that require your participation,  forces  you to
watch helplessly as our jobs are sent overseas in order to
provide for manufacturing by cheaper labor?

Until it personally touches you, until you are one of the many
now waiting in long lines for replacement work. is your
reaction one of mute acceptance?

Does it have to be that way?

Even those of us online, struggling to build a solid business
are touched by this action.  Did you know that most of the
telemarketers setting up prospects for your product are more
often than not originating from a foreign country?

There are little ways you can make this a very expensive
proposition for any manufacturer or government employing
and backing this disgrace.

The next time you receive a phone call solicting your
participation, ask where the call originates - where the caller
is calling from.  Of course they will tell you the business they
represent.  Press on for the country they are calling from on
behalf of this company.  When the caller gives you the name
of a foreign country, suggest you might have an interest once
you receive such a call from within North america.

It won't stop there, as these people will forward your request
to an American call center.  When they do, then simply say
no. Eventually the message has to be received.  You are not
ready to support any company that relies on cheap labor to
take the food from your family's  mouth or the dollar wage
from your pocket.

You may be one voice but consider how that one voice can
grow to untold thousands if everyone responds in the same
manner? Can you imagine these call centers geting hundreds
or even thousands of calls like this every day?  Eventually,
they will get the message and move them back to our
country.

There is no reason to ever put up with bad service and high
fees while they pay some poor person pennies on the dollar
over what they would have to pay their employees  here.

The more we allow our government to suck our jobs from our
security, the more we take these little things for granted and
not make our voices heard the more our economy will grow
at our expense while continuing to rob us of our rights to
employment opportunity in our own country.

Is it that simple?

I doubt it.  The above position is one of emotional reaction to
loss.  The reality is that we are no longer super power people
living in a super power country in charge of what happens
to the rest of the world.

We are a global economy and as such, faced with challenges
that might just shake our basic foundation of our right to
stand still and enjoy because we say so.

At best, the original post can be seen as a way to apply
market pressure and waking up to the realization that you do
have a right to lobby for change.  And  you should begin to
take a stand - have an opinion and voice it. Like refusing to
buy from any business that builds its profit margain on the
backs of poor people in any country.

But with the Internet removing the boundaries of our
countries and dealing with people from many places that
speak better english than you do, they will just move those
call centers to a different country, not bring them home.

Entrepreneurship has begun to replace the loss of jobs
and income once thought our right.  There is no longer
a right to security in employement and the  idea that you
will work for 40 long years with one company and come
out with a gold watch for your years of loyalty are also a
part of a bygone work history.

Let's get one very important issue straight.  The primary
reason that you start a business is to make money.  Your
business is a commercial venture - which means it is
supposed to be about making money.  To take that theory
one step further, you start and build that business not only
to make money but to build it up as a turn-key asset that
you can sell to someone else sometime down the road.

That's when you can take the profits from that venture and
decide if you will retire, build another business, or travel
round the world to fulfil a lifetime dream.

Now whether that business is offline or online, the premise
it the same.  You are a cog in the wheel of an ever changing
economy.  Your business is your way to survive.

Now if you are one of the 'lucky' people who hold an offline
J.O.B. get ready to face the chance that your company will
look to outsourcing and you can become another statitstic.

Whether you choose to standstill and hope for the best or
you choose to keep abreast of our ever changing economy,
that is solely up to you.

Any change represents a challenge that means you better be
on the move to embrace it or learn about it and find a place
to fit into it - or be left behind to moan your loss.
