'Fawlty Towers'

The day has been hot and humid. No breath of fresh air to grace the sticky rooms of "Fawlty Towers" - the name we give our apartment building - not that old yet full of much needed care. The view from the balcony is my saving grace to the
unbearable humidity.

The huge triangle of grass pointing westward, like an arrow to the future, is suddenly full of young children squealing in delight as they begin their games. As I watch them, the thought strikes my mind that it is the beginning of new concerns for new tenants - grandparent or parent, getting used to the traffic and areas they hope their children will not stray to.

This is where I spent many a long hot summer caring for my two rug-rat grandsons, watching them learn the big city rules they never had to deal with in their country home.

This is where they learned the rules of consideration for others, team spirit, and manners for those perhaps less deserving yet adults, who also shared their limited play space.

It is in those easy moments of remembrance, that I think of you and I and where we are heading. We are much like those children, full of glee and anticipation as we play our games and learn to be an integral part of each other's lives.
