Oh Wo Is Me The Price of Being Poor
10:10:54 PM - 2005-08-13

I recently took some time off to "get away from it all" and returned hoping to get back to work. Unfortunately I was to discover I had additional work to do. I returned from a vacation(another entry) to discover my computer in disarray. I attempted to regain my settings and information to no avail. I was left with the task of trying to rebuild from scratch.

I spent about 4 days rebuilding my databases and computer security, although there are some things that cannot be recovered. I know I should have had some backup. But with limited financial resources I can barely keep things running much less spend on things I cannot afford.

I was planning on upgrading a few of my memberships when I returned with money I had been saving. That dream was taken away by another misfortune, when  the alternator on my car decided it had enough. I replaced the alternator along with 2 belts. For the last 10 years it seems everytime I turn around something happens to pull me under or at least keep me from moving ahead.

This was the second time in less than a year I have had to reinstall my systems. It wastes too much valuable time and resources to be doing this sort of thing that regularly.

If anyone has any free or cheap procedures for backing up my computer and/or files, I Am All Ears.

Losing everything can be very disheartening. I know the feeling. Backup can be very costly or you can use free resources you have such as CD's, and if you are using Windows XP there is a backup utility available. Also this might give you some ideas here: http://www.goldensuccesstoday.com/webmastertools.html Glad to be of help.
