2008-01-13 Holistic Health Care vs Drug Culture
Alternative health care medicine, a holistic health care approach focuses on the maintenance of health and wellbeing, while western allotropic medicine has a disease oriented focus. The pharmaceutical companies and the FDA support this view, so practically every TV channel carries advertising that claims a pill will solve all your problems. Unfortunately, this scham scam placed before the eyes of children and unthinking adults, multiple times daily, embeds the view that instant gratification for all sorts of woes can be obtained by taking drugs. So the USA has fast become a cauldron for drug culture. This has been festering like a huge boil, since the last 1960s. We all know, if we stop to think about it, that there is no fast, easy answer to most of life's problems. We must live and grow through situations which bring us pain. Death and loss are part of the human condition, but we seem to believe it is easier to avoid facing situatitons, so pop pills, so we don't have to feel the pain. This just defers consequences to a later time...we learn nothing from the experience, or live life feeling continually sorry for ourselves. Unfortunately, avoidance also eliminates the possibility of experiencing joy in our lives. What a waste of valuable time, as we all have little of it on this earth. A holistic health care view of life, on the other hand, offers the opportunity through such self healing techniques to travel through grief and disppear, in ways that allow healing and joy to re-enter our lives. Meditation, music, relaxation and other self-healing techniques are much healthier ways of dealing with mental and emotional issues, than popping pills.
